Walking through the carpark in Tron East this morning when I heard these two dudes talking...

Dude 1: You got work yet?

Dune 2: Nah - how about you?

Dude 1: Same boat as you - nothing. But I'm in no hurry, eh.

Me: (thinks) You lazy fucking bastard....:mad::angry2::ar15::ar15::ar15:

A couple of years back i did a hike up Mt Pirongia. We did the hard side (8hrs)but it is still a good 3hrs from the main car park on the easy side.
Got talking to a guy at the hut at the top and asked him what he did for a crust and he told me he was on an invalid benefit.
I still don't know how i kept quiet.

You have better tolerance than I...

A few years ago, my brother (a doctor) was asked at some social gathering what he did for a living. Being sick of the unwanted attention such a profession often brought, he replied..."OH I'm a sickness beneficiary!" Which is not entirely inaccurate...
The questioner then asked, "Oh, been crook have ya?"
To which brother replied "Nah - not really!"

He was left alone quite soon after that reply...

Similar to the story about a doctor, who was having lunch with a mate (a lawyer). The young doctor mentioned that he was pissed off with mentioning his occupation when asked, as he was invariably asked for advice on various medical issues. His mate's advice was quite simple - give them a bill for the advice.

The following day the doctor received a bill in the mail...

Your comment may well be true - I did think of that. They may have been very well heeled and in no need of work - I once took three months off between occupations - after eighteen years in one business with no holidays. I was in no hurry then either.

Just didn't seem likely at the time and my reaction was as in the OP.

The best one I have heard for a while was the other when interviewing prospective students. A guy was asked if he would be prepared to go off the benefit and get a job. His reply was "I don't know. Does that mean I go on the job benefit?"
