WARNING (rant)
Well here is how my day goes.
Finally go to pick up my bike and after 7 weeks 5 days 20 hours and change i am once again in possition of my CBR.
But on the way in while riding the cbx400 a guy pulls out in front of me and i brake....hard..... i hear this squealing sound and realise i have locked up the back wheel when it starts to swing around.Managed to hold it together but left me a little frazzled
So i wait around a bit for my bike and when i get it back i notice they have snapped off a bit of the fairing.*adds to f##king frustration*
so then i go off to kerry and to make matters worse i have blown fork seals and surprise surprise the braided lines that the bikeshop sold me the bike with are illegal and won't pass a WOF.....................
So looking at $500+ just for that never mind about me wanting a rear shock rebuild :crybaby: :crybaby:
To fix up or sell up and go into more debt and buy a gixxer or something what to do what to do
On the plus side i forgot how much up and go the cibber has and how good the brakes are :Punk:

So, is the bike shop fixing the fairing?
The braided lines thing is frustrating. I bought and fitted some to my VTR, and had to replace them less than a week later because despite being slightly better made, they didn't have the compliance number printed on them like the ones Kerry sells and fits. Luckily, I got my money back on them.

Ok why are bike shops selling braided lines if they are illegal.
That they wont pass WOF's.
Surely all bike shops should know this.
If not why dont they know it.
Aff-man tell them, it wont pass the WOF with those braided lines and that you want correct ones fitted.... and that you want it done ASAP or they pay another place to do the job if they havent the time.
It must be very frustrating for you.....
Here have a :grouphug: from me.

I know it's a pain being without the bike (and the LOVERLY feeling of get up and go when you get it back...
but...
Take the bike back to the shop and have them fix the brakeline with something legal. One of the things you get from paying for assistance at the shop is expert advice. Assuming you didn't specifically ask for the illegal mod - they didn't supply any expertise. They're in the wrong - not you.
As for snapping something off the fairing - that's negligence. They might have something in the fine print saying they're not responsible yada yada, but I don;t think they can contract out of it. I'd talk to a lawyer about that though0 I may be wrong.
(any lawyers lurking?)
I'd certainly go back and give the shop the chance to fix their cockups though - it is the decent thing to do.

Crashe is right, the lines are not suitable for their intended purpose (road use). Go back, ask for legal lines or a refund. They can fix the fairing too.
Don't take any shit.

Just so that you know Im thinking of you my bike has to go back for a respray as the paint is lifting and stone chips look craters so that will be another 3 weeks waiting. But what I will do is get them to order the stickers and then they can fetch the bike otherwise I will be waiting for weeks again.

Take it back, get them to fit the legal lines and plastic. Then sell it.

Hi Johnno......:spudwave:
Were the fork seals blown when you gave them the bike??
And did they put a wof on the bike when they sold it to you??? Shouldn't they have picked up the braided lines then??? Or known about the issue??
Highly shocking behaviour from a shop with such a reputation.... understand the wait - can be blamed on slow shipping - but the other matters should have been picked up way earlier------ especially with the experience those fellows have..........:wait:
It's bloody frustrating to keep spending money we find so hard to get in the first place on repairs - :mad:something that provides no returns/enhancements to our riding - but just mantains things.... zero ROI - if my rant makes sense.
Hope it gets sorted soon mate - seeing as you've been a customer of theirs for years - I hope a proper sit down chat sorts matters.....:)
Worse to worse I'm sure Kerry will sort you out - always been a huge help that fella:yes:
Best of luck with everything :niceone:

It's kinda strange that a bike shop would supply non complying brake lines - although check the fitted date, they may have been fitted before the regs came in.But the non complying brake lines are NOT ILEAGAL,they are just non complying for the WoF,same as string puncture repairs and all the non complying lighting that Repco sells - you can buy and fit this stuff....you just can't get a WoF with it.
We hates plastic we do - it gets hard and brittle with age (just like me) you touch it and...snap....you have a problem on your hands.I don't know about bikes, but if I gut some interior fitting on a car, like removing the dash to access the heater - I warn the customer we may have some non related components breaking as part of the job, this stuff is designed to go together and never come apart....but I think a fairing should be able to be removed more than once....

fairing was cracked beforehand but there wasn't a piece missing when it went in......
I think i'm going to let my dad sort it out cause i'm just way to pissed off to do it myself/ don't want to be giving the run around yet again, the stress has definatley not been worth it

F'kin hell mate. For all that it may have been better to do it yourself. Seriously though if you didn't ask for the brake lines then they have to replace them. Not fit to purpose or something like that.

So much bad luck - Don’t know what it is about Honda and there darn parts....
I was thinking. As for the 3 months warranty you got with the bike, does this get extended now because the bike has been in there for so long now???

Buy a Gixxer man, easy way outta the problem, think you're in debt now it's all good, if you top me you're doing well, Just finished paying off a GSXR600 i wrote off a while ago, have just started paying for the TL1000S which i'll be selling soon and i just brought a GSXR1000K3, still trying to get parts from japan for the NSR the ZXR is sold and gone very soon, and the ZZR i haven't even thought about yet, i work for my bikes pretty much and nothing else, but i'm happy to have no life.
Catch you on Saturday man.

Why someone would want a GSXR instead of a CBR to beyond me :devil2:

Have you driven then both???
There is a lot of difference between a late 90's CBR and a late 90's gixxer...
If i had the cash i would buy a new cbr600rr but poor student syndrome doesn't allow ,so for my budget best value for money is a gixxer.... :devil2:
Oh a side not the bike shop is replacing the braided lines for free :Punk: :Punk: :Punk: :Punk:

Hell no. I'm talking about the 2005 models. I thought the Kawa 636 was OK also, but I'd go the CBR myself.
