I've ridden this bike a couple of times now and it is a bloody fun bike to ride around the city on. Coleman's lend it to me as a courtesy bike when I take my bike in for servicing. When they told me today that my bike will not be ready until tomorrow, all I thought was that I get to ride The Goose for another day :)

I love riding café racer singles. It's only a 350 single, but it has enough power to hoon around the traffic. Well if ya a short bastard like me anyway. It also goes well with the girlie on the back, but she weighs next to nothing as well.

If it wasn't for the stupid 250cc laws, it would make an excellent learners bike.

Smart looking lines for a 350,
wish they would have courtesy bikes here in the UK, pain the backside when u have to take the bus or taxi back home

They don't usually provide courtesy bikes here either, I guess you have to know the people really well if they are to give you a courtesy bike.

Never ridden one, but its a shame Suzuki never fitted an electric start DR650 motor in one, instead of the 350cc motor as standard

They are lovely and I actively considered a yellow one to get back into bikes with, but it was a lot of money for no straight line performance. Goes round corners like an Aurora AFX slot car though.

DR350 motor, only got them as imports here but the bike press loved them.Depends what you want really,Supermotos aren`t fast in a straight line either but they`re a blast and really popular over here, there`s more to biking than speed and not everyone can afford to run a sports bike.

Did you get these in N.Z? XTZ660 trailie motor in a cafe-racer frame, bombed here but has got a cult following so the rare ones that come up for sale fetch decent prices

Never seen one.

If the tail-piece was put on a diet it would look very nice.

However it only looks very nice.

I saw a girl riding one of those (same colour too) in Perth, back in 1999, I think it were. I thought, "Man - that's a good-looking bike!" Can't remember what the girl looked like though...

Anyone know what these retail for?
Looked at the Colemans site but cant find anything.
They look fantastic.
I'm looking for a first bike, looks like i can get an exemption for the 250cc limit thing so one of these could be a starter for me

If it wasn't for the stupid 250cc laws, it would make an excellent learners bike.

We get a horsepower limit rather than a capacity limit so the Goose could be ridden by a learner if they can find one.A lot of bikes have restrictors to get under the limit, and yes there are 33 b.h.p. R1`s around being ridden by learners.there aren`t that many decent bikes for sale under the limit, riders seem to prefer restricted machines or they go for Direct Access, which ironically has a minimum b.h.p. limit. but can only be ridden under qualified instructor supervision.

There is a 250cc version of the Goose (http://www.suzukicycles.org/SG250N-Goose.shtml).

I much prefer the yellow version of the 350.

It's a lot easier, of course, to police a capacity limit, since a cop could never tell if the restrictors were being swapped in and out between WOFs.

I went for a ride on one of these a month or so back - it seemed to handle really nicely - and had a nice riding position - would have been a good buy at 2500 - nice guy - name of ralph - he had bought a trx850 that basically looked like a grown up version of the goose .. good fun

They sell for around six - there have been a couple of them at dealers around the country of late - there are a couple of neat sites dedicated to them in the UK

cheers

Some of tham can't even work that out. When my #2 son was learning, he had an FZR250. Got stopped by cops for some reason, and they tried to book him for riding a bike over 250. The cop wouldn't listen, wouldn't look at anything, and finally called for backup. Looked like a prat when backup showed him the "247cc" (or whatever) cast into the cylinder block

Holeshots gave me one as a loaner a while back,I rode it to work and everybody had a ride on it,and all my mates (no-one here from holeshots I hope....)We all loved it,from idiot's like me through to my boss who rides a Hardley. Not a real powerhouse( will crack over the ton no worries though  ) but just great fun and great handling :niceone:Even had some guy in a cage at the lights comment on it!
Would thoroughly recomend one if yer not into going fast everywhere.

Saw a similar Goose up at Holeshot t'other week. Very tidy-looking wee bike that is. If one could afford to run two, it'd be an *ideal* commuter to sit out back beside an expensive weekend rocket.

As it stands, the licence regs make it unlikely to sell, since everyone coming off a restricted will be itching to own something with heaps of HP. Shame, really.

Kawasaki did a similar 250, the BR250. Looked good and went like stink(for a 250). Sister-in-law was very hard to get away from over the Rimutakas when on hers. Watercooled, light, and sweet handling, and a Kawasaki so far superior to the Suzuki in every way.

Does COlemans still give courtesy bikes..???

Im taking my bike there for servicing soon and was hoping to get something. The first time i went there, they gave me a bike , then second time, no bike. So hopefully they give me this time as well...

Goose looks nice.

I dunno, but if you ask well in advance, they may be able to jack up a demo bike or summat for you to ride. :spudwhat:
I've had a courtesy bike only twice: once was a Honda 125 scooter, which was so bad it was a real giggle. The second time was when I was having a few niggles sorted out on the VFR after I bought it. I got a Suzuki Volty 250 to ride, and I absolutely hated it, until (on the way back) I rode down a road (or road a rode, or maybe rowed a road) with speed humps on it and found the Voltyhorse was so light I could jump the bumps or humps or bump the humps like jumps. Whatever. Speed hump stunting was its one and only redeeming feature.
While I appreciated (to a limited extent) being given a courtesy bike, I didn't think it was very courteous giving me such an execrable one....

Stepping up from a RG150E, this Goose did it for me. My mates VTR1000 was fun, but a bit big for my purpose.

I'm mainly a commuter with the odd weekend trip doing about 450kms. Really Tourqey engine and a nice rumble for the size, think it runs a DR motor.

Go the Black one, yellow does not look right to me, blue hmmm prob not. Got the 2002 model, RRP $5000, but give a talk as most people step up to at least a 400 if not a 600cc bike, and you can haggle down.

Looking at trimming the tail a bit it possible, bit too much hang. Only bad thing I have found is the front fork are a little spongie for my weight, stoppies are easy, and if you ease then gun it in fourth you can pop the front, not to good doing 120kmph+ though.

I have never understood why they didn't chuck the DRZ400 motor in it.
Revs fer Africa, and prolly 50% more HP.
I had a road legal DRZ400, and it was a hoot around town. With the road gearing on they'll do 160km/h.

Im not sure bout that, but i have herd that these are popular in england because they dont have cc restrictions they go by power, and these just make the cut, so you dont have to get it restricted. But than again as far as im aware they were originaly made just for Japs... dun quate me on that tho
