Hey all,

Before anything i have being researching my arse off in regard to this topic, its a mission, ive got the manual read it. read everything. rgv.co.uk, everything ive come across.

Now the title does say it all.

How to i adjust the suspension on my rgv, the rear suspension to be exact. the front suspension is sweet. just turn them lil bolts at the top to adjust the rebound/stiffness. But with the back ive played around with the resevoir clockwise and it should stiffen (supposibly) nothing happens, the bottom adjuster has a lil dial with numbers 1-4. It was on 1 have now set to 4 its stiffer but still soft. I want to raise my rear end.as im quiet tall and would rather my legs more forward then hanging out/back.

hope someone knows what i mean. I have a rough idea i just dont wanna muck anything up.

So your help would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Ask me something to reassure if you didnt get what i meant.

need it to be done asap so i can actually ride properly. instead of bouncing around.

Why the hell would anyone want rock hard suspension? That's not how it works.

Mine is a VJ22, but basically the same.

You don't want rock hard suspension.

It's a JDM bike with old springs.

OEM rear shocks have a reasonably short life. A new one is between $700 and $1500. That will sort the rear valving, the wear in the body, the fucked pistons and seals, and the worn spring.

Revalving and springing the forks will run you about $500.

Like every other JDM 250, it's an old piece of shite that was never supposed to go for this long, was made for tiny teenage Japs, been neglected, been worked on by monkeys. Get your credit card out.

My bad, for some reason I thought it was a 21. Close though, only 1 number out...

I've got a hankering for a 21... very simple bike, bit like a giant mini moto.

yeah but going to other way a mate has a 23 in his kitchen & that is pretty trick. Well apart from the broken rod. I was never sure of the tailpiece on the 23, but he has it resting on the RZ500 hybrid (in his lounge of course, no room in the spare bedroom for Rotax 250 GP bike kitset) & it looks pretty horn.

Sorry where were we? oh yeah, credit cards. You could just try adjusting those little dial things on the suspension, it is fully adjustable, so maybe you can adjust it from knackered to good:innocent:.

Wow, sounds really complicated. Any chance you could translate that into English?

VJ 21 & 22 models standard forks both RWU & upside down forks are only adjustable for preload. ie,those little bolts at the top are preload (ride height)adjusters only.No other adjustment is possible unless as has been stated you get your credit card out.

VJ 21's never came out with the remote reservior as far as I know so someone must of retro fitted one from a 22 to your bike previously. But as has been stated they are well poked by now.
