This is more just to make sure everyone knows about it than a rant or repeat of previous discussions.
Ride safely everyone :scooter::drinkup:

Actually they've only done it twice on long weekends, and I certainly hadn't heard of it being in place this weekend.

Meh. Makes no difference to me. If I'm in the cage, I'm driving like a nana usually. If I'm on the bike and I'm riding spiritedly, I'm just as likely to be done for speeding if it's a 10km/hr weekend or a 4km/hr weekend.
All this does is creates a de facto 95km/hr speed limit for the weekend as the sheeple don't dare get busted.
Either way I don't care. Good luck to the coppers keeping the speed limit to zero. I genuinely hope that it will be so. Changing the tolerance on speeding won't make diddly-squat of a difference to it though.
It's like the ad where the guy gets pulled over and says "I was only a few k's over" and the copper says "That's where most of the accidents are happening Sir." Well of course. That's the speed most people drive at so that's where most accidents will occur.
Eventually though, they'll reduce the limit so far that the majority of accidents are caused by driver fatigue.
Ho hum. You can't regulate driver stupidity. And that'll still be the biggest factor on the roads.

Sorry Officer
I will spend more time focusing on the speedo and less time looking where I'm going.

It says in the article that crossing the centre line usually results in a head on collision. how the fuck do I turn right at an intersection then? Poor context....
Mind you, I never break the speed limit :innocent: So I need not be worried.

Yeah, never mind the road hazards....
One would expect excessive speedo watching to be a serious road safety issue.
Seriously tho, i don't even think my bike speedo's are accurate to + or - 10 km/hr, let alone 4 km/hr

Yeah - mine reads at least 5% high, possibly more.
What's the % error on the radar equipment?
Maybe they are all re calibrated just before long weekends.

"So, officer, if I drove way faster than that, would I be safe then?"

Nah - I once rode so bloody fast that I caught myself up and had a rear-ender with myself ............ insurance company was not impressed and did not believe me.
OK that reads a bit kinky, and I'm sure the 'Honda' jokes will start soon!

Well Napier to Palmy tonight was fun.Hmmm sitting on 120km along h/w 50 just out of Napier and a cyclist gives me the slow down motion,so I think cop yahoo.Turned out the red commodore I approached pretty quick(115 ish)was an unmarked car, which promptly pulled to side,as I rode passed at 107 and saw flouro vests thought oops, but they let cars pass and turned back I think.
Saw a few stupid manouvres as per usual, but the amount of idiots travelling at 90- 100 and speed up on passing lanes was a bloody mazing, and part of the way had showers, most of the traffic was cruising at 105-110 and nobody was doing anything stupid, until we caught up with slow drivers hogging the road, speeding on passing lanes into Dannevegas.
So Paula bloody Rose it aint speed it's bloody impatience and frustration causing accidents, traffic held up by nana drivers scared shitless to do over 105km,or campervans, towing vehicles etc unable to pull over due to camber on the road sides.

So you want several people to die to prove a point to people who are trying to save lives?

the biggest problem in the world is too many ppl so what if they die in crashs, and its more about imposing there will on ppl than saving lives

I'm sure it will be the roaring success it was when they rolled out this "tolerance" the first time...
