Hello there,

Could anyone please tell me where I can find an air cleaner element for a Suzuki GS650G Katana (1981)?
The one in there turned to dust when we took it out
I have searched and searched, and any I find are from over seas with a hefty shipping charge.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated (DIY included)
Was thinking of using some thin foam I have in some car seat covers

Thankyou
Daniel.

Most Suzuki dealers should be able to "find" one ...

Is it oiled foam over a plastic frame?
If so, you can buy it in flat sheets cut to an appropriate size to wrap around the old frame. Use cable ties to hold it there.

Yes it is. Thats what I'm after!!! Where can I find some!!??

I'm sure the dealer will find the OEM one for me (for a large fee + finders fee + GST) No thanks

I've bought it from what was 5 Star in the past.

they might ship to NZ

I've got a K&N in the GS1100 and while not making any claims for increased power or anything like that, it fits and judging by the crap that comes off it when washed - it works.

If you go the foam sheet route - make sure it is open cell foam. Closed cell foam won't let air through.

K&N will most likely have one for the 650 in their catalog list ...

Thanks all for the info, I'll check 5 Star Suzuki (Bay motorcycles?) and see what they have. I looked in the K&N website but couldn't find anything for that model  but they obviously make them.
Not sure it would make much difference on the 650 though, just after something to keep the crap outa there.
Anythings better than what was in there!!

Thanks again :2thumbsup

Model number is SU-500. looks like this: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=SU-5500 however it's a pretty old product so might not be available off the shelf.
That link I posted to the Aussie site has one

unifoam also sell a sheet that can be cut up & if required superglued into a shape. Don't use any old foam, it will screw up carburation as I found in my younger years.
