Soft bags for a cruiser?

Been thinking about getting some saddle bags for the C50. Thought I would look at some Givi style ones rather than the leather ones traditionally found on cruiser. Definitiely ones without tassles etc.

Question is - if I get bags do I need to purchase the metal hoops that hang down (I guess to prevent the bag getting caught in the wheel). Bags would be fairly small, say 25lt size and would be used to carry bulky items rather than heavy stuff.

I know Motomail carry some Givi stuff, but is there any other retailers that have it. Will also check Cycletreads as well.

You would definately require saddlebag supports with those ones. Would not want to get them tangled in the spokes!

Have just fitted leather bags to my C50 which I bought off a mate who in turn bought them for a reasonable price from Lifestyle Imports Pukekawa who sell a whole range of mainly m/cycling apparel real cheap. I ordered supports from cruiser customising.com from the states (proper boulevard ones) for a hell of a lot cheaper than nz. Lifestyle have a website. Could well be worth a check. If I knew how to download a pic I would. The bags are bloody brilliant.

Mine, of course, came with the nice Kentucky Drive bags standard and they are really good! Good capacity, detachable so you can use then as suitcases but can lock them to the bike as well.

Getting stuff from the Sates is no problem, it took 4 days for the Value Accessories Lowers to get to my door. Great company to deal with!

definately get supports if you are getting bags. the chick that owned my bike before me had bags without the supports and they rubbed the fuck outta the paint. :angry: if you get zip off ones, keep a short bungy cord with them so you can tie them together. i nearly lost one after it unzipped almost entirely. was hanging on by like 2-3 teeth, lmfao.
i had a givi top box when i bought the virago and got the new brackets customized and chromed with bag supports. they dont look out of place at all.
ive got leather bags but would like to buy some expandable ones. the current bags i can get tie downs in one side and sneakers in the other and thats it. no more room, lol.

If you are getting saddle bags get the K Drive they come with brackets, you won't look back we find them great.
