Got a couple of photos of progress.

I've smoothed out the frame a bit today and intend to do more tomorrow. Here's how it's looking now (and a bonus pic of why my Tuono is off the road). http://imgur.com/a/5GbcB#fnf1S

Obviously plenty of work to be done. Where the tank mounts will most likely to be cut off and replaced with a tiny single seat mounted as high as comfortably possible. The idea I'm going for is the wheel will be by itself, and if you lean too far back you're fucked.

Work is slow, the Aprilia has been getting the most attention, but I'm now shifting my focus. I've still been collecting parts when I catch a good deal. Two nice bits are the NC30 single sided swingarm I got 5 years ago for cheap and a Brembo brake master cylinder, a brand new part used on the '04 onwards RSV's that I got for $60 on trademe.

Kiwi race cars currently have the top triple clamp and are mounting some Rizoma fat bars that were intended for the Aprilia but didn't fit. It's a job I could do myself, but not as accurately.

The big money I'm saving up for is a motor rebuild to handle some boost. I'd like to tackle the majority of work myself. One, to say I can, and two, it's cheaper. The motor works, and a lot of people say not to pull it apart if it is working, but I also hear it's cheaper to rebuild a tired motor than a stuffed motor, and I want this thing to do some long distance trips without fear of being stranded. I've already bought another parts motor to take tidier bits off (as the current block is held together with Knead-it).

Parts I'm keeping an eye out for are a 1300-1400cc big block (damned rare), Flatside carbs or Hilborn Injection, radial braked front end, and possibly another swingarm with a larger wheel.

I'll post a few updates for those interested, hopefully I'll keep the project going at a steady rate rather than leave it sitting so long again.

Not sure if I'm happy with the bars. They do look a bit high. I'll try them out anyway, they may look better when I've taken the cover off the bike and put the switchblocks and levers on.

There's a before and after shot of the frame. Looks heaps better now. So much for a ratty look, I'll end up polishing the whole thing now. Not to a gloss/chrome finish, I'm after an even satin appearance, maybe get it anodised with a slightly tinted clear to make it a more gun metal colour.

If you sign up on the Streetfighters site sing out eh,i just did but when i click on the confirmation email everything just freezes up,annoying as before registering i had a look about and theres some nice stuff,am toying with the idea of when i fit the GSXR forks i bought chopping the fairing (a tad) and fitting some dirt bike bars.Its an old age thing:facepalm:

Dirt bars are all good. I'm only a kid, I can handle clip ons, but the bars are great for NZ roads and handling the pot holes. Greater control on wheelies as well.

What year are those gixxer forks? Not poaching, just I'm keen on some radial brake, beefier triple clamped front forks for the project. Score them fairly cheap?

Yea mate,managed to finally get on there myself.There K5 forks and a bit later Calipers,got them off a mate in Aus for a resonable price.
