so it all boils down to these two bikes i can choose from.

ZX6r 2005:
Typical Ninja Green
completely stock (besides K&N filter)
comes with two brand new tires, serviced and new brake pads
48000ks
owned by a friend and bike mechanic at red barron (Trusted and well maintained)
$6900

CBR600RR:
Candy blue
40000ks
Just serviced, comes with pretty much brand new tires
Completely stock
From Trademe, dont know the owner (but seems well looked after and tidy)
$6500

Plan to test ride them over the next week or so,
CANT DECIDE!!!

any opinions? experiences?

Ninja. K's don't mean jackshit but surely you would be happier buying from someone you trust over some stranger.

For the road: the 636. For trackdays, the CBR.

Don't know either bike well enough for a comparo, but my son just sold his 07 ZX6r for $7500 so you may have room to negotiate. His mate had a CBR600RR and the Kawasaki was better at the track and on the street, although there is no factoring for the rider there.

Cheers

No doubt in my mind after seeing her again tonight, definitely the 636. So well looked after and its simple, its coming from a friend who loves it to bits. thanks for the input guys!

Anyone know of a really nice sounding, cheap Aftermarket exhaust slip on?

Seconded....and I can say first hand that Kawasaki ZX6r parts prices are bonkers expensive.

Sound choice mate.

I'd advise getting the pipe from Ebay. For the cost of just a slip-on here in NZ, I bought a carbon-fibre Yoshimura slip-on pipe, Power Commander III and K&N air filter from Ebay - and even after freight, insurance and GST, it was still cheaper!

Thanks mate! il start looking ;)

Any particular model or make that sounds heavenly on a 636? also price is important ;)

I'd say personally, the Honda.

But best thing to do would be ride them both and see which one fits you better. Under the hood they're probably much of a muchness

The Yoshimura RS-5 sounded gorgeous on the 636, even though Yoshi apparently isn't the "normal" pipe to put on Kwakas. The Two Brothers we put on my friend's bike at the same time sounded rather worse, while also being noiser - with a substantially "cheaper" and nastier looking finish to the pipe.

Yeah ive seen a few yoshi RS5 pipes on them, they do sound nice.. definitely on the list... along with frame sliders, fender eliminata and integrated signal lights.

All this can wait for a few months i think... best to work off the debt ;) could even buy it all in the states when im next there

Can get you one for the same money, far more extras (Yoshi,PC3,tail tidy, integrated tail light, blah blahs) and less kms if you're keen.

Your call :corn:

You have a good mate that you trust, who works in the trade, and you would ask on KB?

Don't forget to factor in those arse rapists ACC charges for bikes over 600cc.

Ironically if you're happy with arse rape then the honda is also the better choice.

How do you qualify that?

I think either bike would be fine but i'd personally go for the ZX6. If you can get a ride on both of them buy the one that you like the most once you've been for a spin.

I remember having a Hardon for a circa 2005 CBR when I was dreaming of getting my first "newish" bike. I had looked at a few and ultimately went to Mt Eden Motorcycles to test ride one they had up there. By chance they had an 06 ZX636 in there which caught my eye.

Decided it was worthwhile test riding both.....

...Man I loved my ZX6R (Why did I sell it again..):love::love:

As you were!

Id trust a friend over a stranger. He loves his bike, Done everything to it. Valve clearances etc

When i buy it he will aslo do a full service, new tires, brakepads, H&R filter, valveclearance, cam chain etc
All this was done 3000ks ago (including a new cam chain) so really it cant get better than this.

didnt know all this until after i went and saw it last night...
