Any Auckland or Waikato riders thinking of riding down to the brass monkey this year ???:cold:

I'm toying with the idea of going ( subject to work giving me the time off.):innocent:
will need to get ourselves sorted out for the ferry & prepaid for the rally soon if it is going to happen. :violin:

I'm thinking of leaving wednesday the 1st June & back Wednesday the 8th.

A rough itinery is down to Wellington wednesday, cross over thursday & overnight in Christchurch or a little further south, Friday to the camp site area or close to it anyway.
Sunday is leaving day so out through either Haast to the west coast or through a pass & come out through Nelson for the trip back over to the north island on Monday or Tuesday, subject to ferry bookings.

Any offers of accomodation would be good too :msn-wink:

Well done that man...
I did Auckland to Brass and return following your itinerary, almost, back in 2001. Great trip.
I recommend the pub in Kurow for your Friday night stay.... was always a great bunch staying there.
My trip went Auckland to Bulls to pick up missus, Bulls to Ashburton (Parents), Ashburton to Kurow, Kurow to Otrahua (Rally site), then Fox Glacier, Picton, Bulls (Dropped off missus), Auckland.

It was a very quick trip 2 up on the GSX600, but loads of fun.....
Must do it again some time....

Well.... Could do, but we did our South island holiday during the summer this year. The bank balance is still trying to recover...

We also spend more time down there these days....
Excuses I know... Maybe next year?

See how we go for this year first, but if it is any good I'll be going back next year

I have a spare double bed room (and space in the garage) Thursday night if you like? I could also put up a bed in the sewing room if needed.

I live in Diamond Harbour which is about 36km south of Christchurch. I'm heading off on Friday but will probably take the senic route to Kurow on Friday night.

The last time I went there on a Friday night there was no food or liquid refreshment onsite. A quick trip to the local up the road gave us enough supplies to get us around most of the drum fires that night

I was there, still heading home from it :gob:

Next time I'll take the car & park over the road from the rally site, like the sarf islanders seem to do:woohoo:

That would be the pub with the handle on the same side as the hinges. You would have been the only people in there while you were waiting too. Alway got to take the first timers there.

After we crawled out of the fart sacks & checked the weather forecast for the west coast. it was shit  so we decided to hit the track to ranfurly & the pig route through to Palmerston & up the east coast this time round .
It looks like it would have cleared up a day later though, just not in time for us:sunny:
