Hey

We recently spent a week at a friend's holiday house which is on a rural block, and he has a 50cc quad and 70cc bike that my girls fell in love with (they couldnt actually ride the bike, but loved being taken on rides around the paddock).

My girls are 5 and 6 years old and I was wondering if there are any events (preferably in the lower north island) where they could watch some kids riding, and maybe even have a go on a little 50cc or something to see if they're interested (before I go and buy the kit, in case they're not keen)?

Thanks
Dave

the Gold Coast Club runs out of Levin, and the Kapi Mana Club out of the Hutt,

more info on the clubs on www.mnz.co.nz

or try Mac at Maidstone Yamaha in Upper Hutt, he has been very involved with MX for a long time

Good on you, I wish I had got my kids into dirt biking earlier, I missed a huge amount of fun with them!

Kapi Mana club have a mini track down bulls run rd, check the website for open days. ps, watch those quads, they tend to kill kids they roll on. Go for 2 wheels.

Get a PW50, JR50, CRF50 or anything like that that has no clutch 2 wheeler and get a set of trainer wheels for it. Quads are ok, but they give me the shits a bit.

It's coming up to trail-ride season, so you might be lucky enough to have one where you could accompany a friend with kids and a 50cc and let your girls have a go. The trail rides usually have a pee-wee track (about a 100m loop with no hazards apart from trees) There's then a bigger (~1km) loop for more comfident kids and then to the big trails... If you can go up with a mate & try stuff, that's the cheap option. Good luck!
