I moved house yesterday.
I stuck the cat in the boarding facility until today.
Brought her home and introduced her to the new environment. She looked around and seemed OK. Let her outside and she fucked off. Never to be seen since...
Damn. I've had that cat for 12 years...
I hate moving house. It sucks. Especially when you go from an ace house to a shithole...

Time for a replacement anyway.
You wouldn't keep a bike for 12 years.

there's still a good chance they'll come back, I've just taken my mums cat and the same thing happened, 2 days later a scratch at our door and there she was (the cat, not mum).

why move then??
Because the bankers, who fucked up the financial system, said I had to.

That sucks about your cat. When I moved from the country into town my cat disappeared for 3 months! I was so sad. I had to move again and was sitting having a drink with a friend commenting on how sad it would be if Blackie found her way back and we were not there anymore.
She went home, about 10 mins later she is back in the driveway grinning from ear to ear. She had taken a different route home and saw a little black cat on the side of the road. She stopped and called her, and bugger me the cat came to her!
Yes we got our little black cat back. She was in reasonable knick, just very wild and scared. It took a while to get her settled again, and we watch her each time we have moved since. When we came in here, she got in under the spa bath downstairs and would not come out  I was scared she would get fried but the wires :shit:

I wonder if your cat went back to your old place, Slofox.
If you find your cat again, probably best to lock in in the new house for a week or so

I remember when our cat came back from an operation at the vet. Went out to call him for food. And jeez he wasn't there. 3 days later, got a visit from the 90 y/o lady next door, asking if it was your cat that was stuck under her bed. After we got him back he returned to his normal mooching self.

sorry to hear that slofox. As suggested, check your previous place. We had to move our cat three times, tried the butter trick but found that keeping her inside for awhile worked best, only a couple of days required until they pick up the scent of the place and/or the fact that this is where their slaves (you) are staying.
Moving house does suck, spent the whole of Easter helping someone move house, hope their 3 cats make the transition.

Did you put butter on its paws?
I've seen this work with a siamese.

IT'S OK She's back!
Little bugger was in the room right next to me when I woke up from a drunken morose daze..."Meowp! Purp! Get yr arse outa that bed and FEEEEEEED me!"
She seems as pleased to see me as I am to see her. AND looks as though she's been in the new place forever.
Talk about manipulative...

Shut them in for 24 hrs and then release the mayhem on the neighbourhood! Muahahahahaha!
Local felines didn't know what the feck hit them.:ar15:

I got to wash the lino this morning. I wasn't going to do it but as it happened I had to...
Because the washing machine drain hose blew out of the tub and pumped half a washing machine load of soapy water onto the lino floor before I could stop it...
So I made the best of it and mopped everything. And am now trying to dry out four hundred towels... The fucking floor still has blades of grass all over it...
And my cat fucks off all day and only comes home at night. I have no idea where she goes but it must be a good place. She used to do that before she commandeered me - she only moved in with me because she could be an "only" cat at my place instead of one of five where she lived previously...opportunistic to the teeth...
I am supposed to be losing one of the desks from the "office" today but I just can't do any more - this is day 5 of the move and frankly, I am futterly ucked. I thought to join the local video shop and watch a DVD but they demanded "proof of address" before they would accept my membership. I asked what I was supposed to do since I was only in here three days ago. They just shrugged and said "sorry bro them's the rules." So I said "Shove it up your arse then - I'll never spend any of my money here - I'll get DVD's from somewhere else."
They didn't even seem to care...arsefuckers!:ar15::ar15::ar15:
On the positive side, I did manage to get the bike moved from the lockup to Herself's garage. Via the "scenic" route of course! hehehe ...Interesting ride actually - high winds just now which made it "unpredictable." I did enjoy the fang though...
So the bike is now is a little closer than it was.
The worst part of all this is that I can't just jump on the bike and go for a ride whenever I feel like it. I have to go pick it up, ride, then come home again afterwards...
I hope those garage door buggers get their act sorted FAST!

So Sunday afternoon comes and I am about to rejig the "office"...start by carrying out some of the boxes of tools etc that litter the floor (heavy boxes).
Part way across the room the cat zooms between my feet, causing me to go arse over tip - and sideways onto the back of a kitchen chair. Which kicks me very hard in the ribs. Which break...(well I think so although they might just be "displaced" a bit). Whatever, I am now unable to breathe properly and in a stack of pain. Makes lifting difficult and lying down to sleep a hazardous task.
I am now awaiting the imminent collapse of the whole house...just to top it all off you unnerstand.

Progress. Got me some new toys to ease the pain of moving.
But. Had to get the stupid textured ceiling removed because it was falling off all over everything. Bloody old cow who sold me the place forgot to mention THAt didn't she...
That job required moving all the stuff I had put in, back out again. Into the open carport. Where every cat in the neighbourhood could piss on it. For some reason, none did. Good.
I had two nights with no kitchen or living area - just a bedroom and a bathroom. Last night I had no bedroom so slept on a foam pad on the lounge floor. BUT. I did get to watch my fancyarse new TV. With any luck I might have the bed back tonight.
Two more jobs to be done (garage door and heating) and I can finally stop stressing about everything. AND get me BIKE BACK!

Doh, how are your ribs?
Good to get rid of that crumbly ceiling crap. In those old houses, that stuff is often asbestos based.

Sounds like you are having a b*tch of a time :shit:
Moving totally sucks arse! You never realise how much useless crap you accumulate until you have to pack it all up, move it and then wander around new place aimlessly with no idea where to put stuff....... typically if you have been ruthless and thrown junk away before you shift - afew months down the line you find that you DO need that piece of plastic shit you threw away!!
Cats suck too - I'm not biased, I have three of the buggers and they are sly players all three
Sure hope it gets better soon

Ribs are progressing very well now - two weeks down the track. I no longer see little lights behind my eyes when I cough or sneeze...:shit:
The textured ceiling was non-asbestos - we knew that. It's all finished now and I got to sleep in my bed again.
The ceiling looks wonderful now - and makes the walls look really crap...

Excellent! I have another bottle on the shelf when she needs a refill...

You have hit the nail squarely there! Especially the wandering around aimlessly bit . I've spent three weeks doing that. And the "where's that bit of...oh shit - I chucked it out didn't I?" bit...
Overall things are slowly settling into place. The garage door is being installed today so I will soon have the bike back home. Then all I have to do is get rid of all the stuff I have stored at various locations around the city...
Re cats - I have always had cats. The night I had to sleep on the lounge floor, I put the foam pad against the foot of one of the recliner chairs. I slept on that and the cat moved onto the chair itself. Several times through the night I was aware of her reaching a paw down and gently batting me with it...kinda "You OK down there fulla?". Bloody animal is crazy...
