Hi there guys. I'd like to suggest that we try to have a get-together (quite a few of us know each other already, but there's a lot that we don't know).

It's probably not going to work terribly well before Christmas, so what say we think about early January?

Perhaps a Friday night get-together somewhere we can have a drink and a bite to eat?

Or would you guys prefer a ride?

We might even have Mitch living down with us by then!

Great idea but I'd prefer to go for a ride. Who else is keen???

MrMelon

I'd be keen for both when/if i ever get my bike back.. grr.

matthewt

I'll be up for it provided the MV is around (won't be back from ChCh until late on the 18th).

LB

thinking about it in slower time, it's probably better to wait till early Feb - I'll sort out a date/time and post it here.

Matt: do you know there's racing at Ruapuna on the 17th/18th? It's a National Points round - I'm flying Hamish and I down for the weekend for my surprise Christmas present to him. Only thing is that I couldn't keep my mouth shut so it's no longer a surprise!

I'd be on for something too, food, drink, ride, whatever but Feb does sound better as I'm cruising up North most of January.

I'm away this week too but will see you for lunch next week as long as its not Thursday.

Hi Linda

Merv/Doug....I'm MORTALLY hurt by your sarcasm.....!!!!!

I would offer to host a BBQ here after the ride but we don't have a BBQ.

Merv - I'm going to suggest Friday for lunch. Doug - if you're interested in coming along let me know.

I'm flying into ChCh at 11am on the 18th.  Can't remember what sailing I'm on but I probably don't have enough time to head out to the track.  I was pushing my luck enough to get two days off just to transport the MV to ChCh and back so it would be there during our family "holiday" otherwise I'd fly down Friday night and stay with my parents for the weekend.  I think Ruapuna is probably the best track in NZ.

bungbung - where do you work? if you're in central wgtn I'll give you the lunch details. Those of us who meet are generally Lambton Quay-based.

Bungbung: send me an e-mail and I'll include you in the list - we're planning on Friday 19th for a "last lunch b4 Christmas" lunch.

I think I may have met you.....McDonald's 1st November early mng when you were on your way to Rotorua, then on L/Quay a week or so later?

Riding and eating is good. We specialise in both disciplines. Mrs Hitcher's work arrangements make Saturdays the best option. The garden bar at the Flying Fish at Martinborough is a good place to hang (the Wairarapa's best coffee).

Hi Hitcher - we frequent the Flying Fish a lot too. The service went downhill about six months ago when it changed hands - for a while there it took forever to get a coffee, let alone food. But they seem to have got their act together a bit more now. It's a very good place to get a caffeine shot while keeping an eye on the bikes coming round the Square. It's very good for gathering in bikers as they come around.

I can't come on the ride, my right swing arm is stuffed. I will however come for a quick chat and lunch if I'm free on the day. Can someone text or pm me if the date changes? And, when is the date?

See ya:oi-grr:

Alot of the Kiwiriders do the thursday night rides followed by drinks in Lower Hutt. This is a weekly occurance.
Why not just bombard one of the rides with advertising on here and make it a good showing.
Afterall, the suggestion is a ride and drinks which happens already!

I should say they are of the faster variety. typically 10-14 bikes.
Check the meetings and events pages - theres a "Wellington thursday night ride" post made every week.
The speeds do get reasonably high. So be warned!
Typical riders are Deano, Jimbo, Madboy, Flame, Skelstar etc.

The group is very considerate though and will often pull over and wait for all to regroup. So those at the back, just ride at your own pace.

Colapop
17th December 2005, 19:21
They're a lot faster than mine at the mo' !! LOL
But I'd be keen for a get together at some stage - you may have to put up with a cage parked around the corner tho'

Since there has been no activity on this thread for a while, I'm putting forward the following suggestion.

How about we have a big turnout this Thursday evening?
The usual meeting time and place is the carpark just off the Lower Hutt Motorway, at the Maungaraki Turnoff.

Meeting time: Normally 6.15pm, departure 6.30pm.
Destination: Decided upon arrival at Maungaraki.
Followed by Drinks: Most likely at The Grumpy Mole, Lower Hutt.

The Hardcore KB bunch will be there regardless!

The wainui hill road itself would be good for scrubbing them in, very high grip surface and serious lean angles available. Coast Rd is usually my last preference, it's pretty bumpy. But I go where I'm told.

Oh yeah, Beautiful long sweeping corners, high speed too and on the downhill you can just press all the weight through the front tyre too and scrub that in real nice. The duration of the hill will have the tyre scrubbed in after a decent return crossing. Just hope the weather is nice so you can do some serious scrubbing!

lol!! anyway focusing on the POSITIVE.... the bikes looking really good now. Glenn did my indicator mounting out of knead-it and Matt and myself fixed the part of my fairing around the mirror that snapped of. A shit load of aroldyte (sp?) some sand paper and $3.50 spray paint from Te Warewhare have done wonders! I no longer have any duct tape on my bike...... 'cept for the radiator!

Yeah, Matts got his heads up display working so it made it a bit "safer" to open it up a bit. That things awesome, it shows him his revs, speed, gear in use and flashes when the radar goes of. Apparently switches between the functions every 3 seconds or so.... and he doesnt have to take his eyes of the road, pricey though. Prob worth more than my bike!
