Reckon this one is getting pretty up there. In fact it's power, top speed, and range is pretty much the same as my bros 650 :shit:
40kw
160km range
160kmhr top speed
14k USD (still preordering)
10hr recharge

And now they're doing dirt bikes with 6 speed trannies...

A 40kw bike that weighs 190kg and is useless for 10 hrs after it has done a max of 160 km? Its a very expensive town commuter. I would however be very interested to have a ride and esp interested to see what the seasoned, non biased road testers think of it.

that seems a bit excessive for 4Ts, my 125 could use another sometimes, but that's only cos they are super close ratio to reduce front tyre wear!

I reckon 160km is a bit more than town commuting, half a dozen nice rides round here that could be done, and bout half a dozen towns that are in range. Yeh, well intersted in having a ride, hopefully electric bikes guys will do the same as can-am guys to convert the masses :bleh:

Have the government weighed in yet with a good way of taxing the fuck outta your use on the road? They get no fuel tax or ACC and it being under 50cc would ensure it is on the cheap end of the rego scale?

The Mojave Mile was a detour for Yates, who is prepping the bike for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. He recently upped the bike’s output to 240 horsepower (and 365 pound feet of torque) to improve the power to weight ratio of the 585-pound machine.

Yup... Pikes Peak.

I'm watching the development with interest, a leccy bike would be the perfect day to day scoot for me.

Not heard a whistle about legislation but I fear that it would give the Government an opportunity to hammer bikers even harder. If they have to put the work in to classify leccy bikes & cars for rego, ACC etc it would probably move the parameters with which current bikes are classified. Then again they might just go power to weight ratio & tax us on the potential fun we can have with appropriate increase in ACC levies too.

Might pay to get in quick.

Got a spare $14K+shipping?
Oh and you don't want to buy a second hand one.......

This is what stopped me buying one 6 months ago.

Most don't fit the moped class, as it's 50cc and <2kW and 50kmhr top speed. There is already a non-petrol motorcycle (and moped) class, is around an extra 40bucks in rego. So still around 500pa to register, not sure how wofs are done, but they barely look at engines anyway so I rekcon wofs done at the same place, initial registration is more specialised, but a few places in NZ can do it. Gov gets some tax of your power bill, but not nearly as much due to how awesomely cheap they are to run.
