This could possibly be in the wrong section so sorry,

But me and my misses have a 7 month old kitten, we have had her since she was about 7 weeks old and she is a loving cat, about as loopy as a fruit cake tho, we decided to get her a friend seeming as the older cat that is around doesnt enjoy her company to much, so we got her a 7week old kitten who is cuddly as hell,

After a pile of hissing and farting and meowing and all sorts of strange sounds they started to play fight and it was ok, the older kitten wasnt too happy with me or the misses and ignored us, then last night it settled a little and the older one came and cuddled at the end of the bed and the little kitten slept on the pillow beside my head, then at 4am all hell broke loose, there was shit flying and all sorts, So i figured all I can do is kick the older one outside, as I had kept her in all day to get used to the kitten (she loves outside) so I did, and 5mins later she wanted back in and it happend all over, they were play fighting but the older cat was going for the throat every time. They seem to have settled now and infact I had the older one sleeping on my chest and the younger one asleep against it, which lasted 5 mins before the hissing fired back up,

So im looking for some advice, is this a sign the older cat is sucking it up and getting used to the idea but just slowly?, and how should I try and distract the older one for attacking so violently.

Get them both desexed if they aren't already.
If they are, see a vet for a female hormone shot for the older cat.
this should take the edge off the situation enough for things to settle down. A cold winter will also help drive them togther.

The older one is simply defending her people against a stranger. try and involve both in play together - equal time and treatment.

We use a hormone product called Feliway, it's like one of the those plug in air fresheners with the liquid in the jar type thing. Helps calm our girls down.
They dont fight together too much, but more stops them getting stressed by the local toms (and consequently pissing inside *sigh*).

Yup, be careful not to favour one over the other.

Get some nice food, like chicken breast, cut into little pieces, hand feed them side by side, one kitten one piece at a time.

The older one could have some priority initially, but once they are mates they become equal in your eyes.

3 cats WTF I cant stand the fuckers any more

We have two cats, took them 4 or 5 months of spitting & whupping before they chilled out. Then I added a Bull Terrier to the mix because I love conflict. Took 6 months for that to settle down.

http://www.feliway.com FYI
Local vet should have it. Not too cheap, but works.

The kats will sort it out themselves ... only interfere if one is dong serious damage to another ... i.e. if you need to take one to the vets to get it stiched up ...

Certainly get them desexed .. but they need to sort it out .. and it sounds like they are ... it's just hard to watch as they often appear to be very violent ... but if they are hissing and screaming, they are just sorting it out .. they are probably not scratching enough to draw blood ...

It doesnt look like the older one is out to claw the younger one to bits, as she more of less smacks her about with her pads, it was the biting that had me worried, but I have a sneaky feeling she thinks its her own ugly ass little kitten, as she tried to pick it up by the scruff a few moments ago, so this could have something to do with it, they are sleeping beside each other now, so will see what happens, cheers for the help.

I agree with the time cure, they need to establish themselves, resources, best place to sleep etc & the kitten will no doubt be bugging your older cat & getting spanked.

I have a similar situation with our cats, but no so intense. They are both homeless cats that ended up here, the older one turned up a couple of years ago,the younger at Xmas. The young guy just wanted to be near the older girl...she tolerates him,but won't let him closer than a metre. The only fights are when he wants to play, and she is well over that.It has resolved into her being a totally outside cat,she won't come inside at all,and he does what he likes.

yeah I had both kittens downstairs earlier with the dog and the older one was protecting the younger one from my dense dog, so im thinking its a territory thing

A bag. A drawstring. A brick. And a lake.

No more cat fighting.

Failing that, you could get Katman round (he's like the Kat wisperer) to entertain them with tales of how getting run over is totally avoidable and it's no ones fault but their own.

This forum is being overwhelmed...

Cats will have spat about things like getting the highest & most comfortable seat, being irritated & every now & then the little one will be used to test the big ones stalking & killing skills.
Dogs just want to eat them or play with them, nothing in between.

I was virtually married to my Ex for about 6 years. She put me off dogs for life. Cant even tolerate the 4 legged ones.
