seat foam.... whats best and where do you get it?
Need to do my seat and whats best to use.... and yes i thought about an old jandel... and looked at a car inner tube.
Both not suitable....
Faom back protector out of one of the Wifes old road jackets is what I use.

Get your seat professionally done. Foam is important but so too is the shaping. Also for the best result you'll probably need to use more than one type of foam.
Give Mac a ring at McDonald Motor Trimmers in Tauranga. Well worth the ride.

3/4" closed cell foam from para rubbber, cut to shape and size, you can round the edges with sand paper or a "flap disc" in a grinder. Get some F2 glue and smear both surfaces let it dry and stick the foam on......contact adheasive so get it right!
Tyga products do one.

I'm with buddah, cheap foam such as an old foam camping mat. Two layers if your a softie or don't have built in padding already on your backside.

+ 1 there is more to it than just adding foam. A change transformed the Speedtriple from a bike I didn't want to ride to one I could ride all day.

This is a seat for a bucket guys, trips to the south Island aren't going to feature, races are about 10 minutes long and most of the time you are off the seat anyway.
For a road bike I'd agree

Sorry - should have read the thread more fully. I am guilty of doing what pisses me off about a lot of posts

Go for the jandal option. Stuff it inside the crotch of your leathers.

Well, while you are on Trade Me, maybe you can find a seat pad off a ZXR/RGV/NSR etc? If you want smaller, look for the rear pillion pad.

Here's the seat of a real race bike. Means you can move around easy & is comfortable enough for a BoB 55 min race. Unless yer ghey.

I blame all my crashes on my old bike.. on shit tyres... except the first outing on the new FXR.... now that was not my fault.... I had a hangover... and had trouble seeing..!
hay and this was no ordanry hangover this was a class 10... from memory took a few days to recover. Again it was not my fault... some bastard gave me burbon
I like burbon...
As far as the seat goes... I think it will be the foam option... or get one made.. after all whats another $100 when I have spent $1500 building this super racing machine...

Pansy, I blame all my crashes on a complete lack of talent.
Spotted a pattern today though.
Taupo, Taumarunui, Tokoroa. Haven't crashed
Roys hill, Mt Wellington, Kaitoke. Have crashed
I vote we rename all tracks in the north Island to something starting with T, that way I'll be safe.

This seat should fit fine and goes with the Bling theme.
Arron -While you are looking for a seat you should buy a deck chair and put it at the end of the sweeper as thats where you normally end up when it rains.
Henk - Safe ... Where in A grade is safe ?

I also suggest minimum foam - if any. As suggested earlier, a gaming mouse pad would do. I just cut away my std FXR seat with a sharp knife so there is very little padding left. Works for me :).

Yes Jase, the full padded seat was good for that long ride, for sure! It's not needed for bucket races though :).
