View Full Version : Northland: Whangarei Thurs night ride
Hi All thought it was time to reinstate the thread we used to have as so much has changed.
Rides are every thurs night at 6.00pm from Planet Honda and we end up at a pub/cafe for a feed/drinks. This is nothing new, we have been doing it for years but the day and place have changed.
Everyone welcome, esp travellers, and it is generally medium pace but we obviously stop and regroup regularly if needed. Always a different spot, decided on the night by whoever turns up.
Currently it is mainly myself Colonel R.I.B and Wynw but you never know who will be there. We ride thru winter as well but usually shorter rides and of course weather dependent.
So get off the couch, see you there!

Sun is our ambo ride from BK at 10.30 for those that are interested?
Sweet day, we had nearly 100 bikes come along! Ngunguru St Johns was well chuffed! Was awesome weather and the back roads were calling us on the way home!
How many threads now?
And, if you ever go to Mangawhai one night, just holla...:mega:

Know why they call them Shadows....... cause when you ride on it you need to hide in the shadows so no one sees you on it.....:woohoo:

Fuckin good weekend all in all! Yes we got wet! It was awful from Whanga's to waikato but we were pretty well dry by the time we got to Waitomo. We even did the caves in the morning before setting off in the drizel to Taumarunui for a cuppa and then we hit the FWH. It was fun and the roads were even dry for us most of the way there. Went to Mt Damper falls which was awsesome to see in the flesh but very hard to get a good photo. Then we fucked about at the tunnel like big kids before declaring beer o'clock and heading for Whong amini moaner or how ever you say it! We stayed in the attic with Colleen and Klaus the frankfurt alarmclock. He will wake you early everyday the fucker!
Next day we took some photos incl one of the roughest Laverda I have ever seen and then set off, dodging the usual selection of pigs, goats, sheep and cows on the road. Went to see the Whangamomona tunnel no 2 and then went to Stratford for 2nd breakfast. One of the BMW's had a sulk here in the rain and had to be push started. On to Opunake to spot hippies and eat lunch where we met up with some Taranaki Ulysses guys who took us to NP and left us to wander in the big park in the middle of town. Then home today on wet roads right up to the southern motorway and then dry till Whangarei and hopefully for the Keri keri lot who continued on.

We never stopped riding, just that no one was posting in this thread. Had a good ride over Mt Tiger last thur with Newhere and MamaJo. Went to Parua Bay pub of course. Wynw was to meet us there but he wanted to take the long way on his new bike! I think he was out all night bedding in a new sprocket set. We are riding from Hammer Hardware in Kamo at 6pm. Weather has been shit tho for so long, last week was the first ride for ages.

Fuck it was a good day for a ride today! Ended up at the Old Parakao Store on the twin bridges rd which never disappoints. Did notice again tho, that when you come up behind and then overtake exclusive bretheren, that they will always want to race you. Doesn't matter how many of the denim skirted and pasty faced progeny they have stuffed into the Oddysee, they will happily speed up after you have gone past and sit right up your freckle!

Funny you should quote that middle one! I was baiting one of the guys who had a habit of telling absolute bullshit! Anyway, we have a quite moderate pace and always stop for regrouping and wait at intersections where necessary. I text everyone normally so the night can change and time etc but tomorrow it is at six from hammer hardware kamo, or the z station across the road if we all happen to be gassing up. Probably be four of us so far tomorrow night plus you guys?
