View Full Version : No rides for a week...

This is getting annoying. It's a week since I rode The Vixen. And about two weeks since I had a decent ride.

Moving house has a very disruptive effect on lifestyle - no wonder they say it is one of the most stressful things you can do...

Bike is now in herself's garage - because mine is not yet secure. That's only a little over 6 clicks away and I do have a key. It shouldn't be a problem.

But there's all this other crap that has to be done.

I've had tradesmen coming to quote for all sorts of stuff - removing the textured ceiling that is falling off anyway. Installing a garage door. Installing a heating device. Installing the sky dish. And I have to go buy a whole lot of goodies as well. Like a new fridge (old one is like an elephant in the room), a dishwasher (wine shops need to wash gazillions of glasses), a TV, a sound system...(those last two are actually therapeutic purchases to soothe my troubled soul over losing my nice big house and moving to a tiny shit-hole...:devil2:).

It all takes time. It all has to be done before work. And herself still wants to be a star of the ballroom so I still have to do a gazillion hours per week of practice time. Despite having a couple of cracked ribs...(bloody cat )

So I haven't been out on a decent ride for yonks...pretty soon I'm just gonna have to whack out...:ar15:

Count yourself lucky - I haven't taken the bike out for a proper ride since last year. Hand is still phucked from a previous crash, so at least you can ride!

That is true - so long as I don't fall off and land on these fooked ribs...

Look at it this way, your future is brighter than mine. I have had one run since February & I'm still trying to get roadworks crap off me bike.

Wonder when the 4 day week is going to kick in?

Just to rub some salt in the wound, I went on a really nice ride out to Kawhia last saturday. Those roads are good fun! The Vixen would love them ;D

If it makes you feel better, my ass is spectacularly sore after a North shore to hamilton county and back today.

Those balaclavas dont eliminate as much shear noise as I'd have hoped.

I find Ear Protex plugs from The Rock Shop to be rather good for sub $40.

Oh I nab safety plugs from work, fuck a big twin, wind shear AND a windscreen that directs air at my neck. Will give those plugs a gander, cheers, I find the foam ones to be rather touch and go.

I used to use them but they would work their way out and ended up hurting

The industry standard orange foam plugs? I find that they protrude from the ear too much after a while, and any/all reverberations from the tailpipes and turbulence are transferred through the foam.
I've tried the protech's before, after a quick guggle. My ears are apparently retarded and don't like them.
Might try those silicone rubber pucks next...

Ha ha, I just read this and am in the same boat, fookin road works, Then I saw your location, fookin Lily pond road works, I'm in KK and work in Opua, I haven't taken the bike to work in two bloody months thanks the the absolute mess that the road works make of my bike. was thinking of doing a ride up SH1 to Kaitaia, they should have finished the Mungamuka R/W by now.

Keen?

My bike registration runs out this month so I guess that will be the end of the line for me 57 years of motorcycling "GAME OVER". :crybaby:

You lot think you have issues!!.....My last ride was at easter, scooter thought it would be a GREAT idea to blow its stator & fry the regulator\rectifier in the middle of no where :angry2: looks like maybe next week I should get it back with a bit of luck

Went through the Maungamuka's about three months ago and they had nearly done the top of hill, the new seal they laid looked fantastic, pool table smooth. haven't taken the bike over to the Hokianga yet but will do soon

I feel your pain slofox... I am also in the process of moving to another place, thankfully not too far.

However, my last ride... well my last street ride has been a while, but the last time I was on the track was in February.... here I thought as of May I would be hitting the track more often, but I messed up my knee playing soccer. ACL gone, MCL partial, Meniscus partial, full crack cartilage on back of patella... are the worse bits, microfracture of the tibial plateau and bruising on the femoral condyles .... hurt a bit (really not all that bad), but I'm not worried about. This happened at the end of Feb, and I still haven't been called in to see the orthopaedic surgeon. They say about 9 months to recovery after the surgery. sheeeesh :shit:
