So did anyone test out the new 250 Ninja?

I was hoping to switch to zx6r but with the fuel and rego costs have reconsidered.
Currently have the 2008 model. But if the fuel economy on the new injected model is better then am definitely getting it.:niceone:

Has anyone bought it or tested it out? Thoughts?

The Ninja is fine, but it's not on the same planet as a zx6r. If you are concerned about economy, then forget the zx6r and get the Ninja.

He's not talking about downsizing, he has a 2008 250 Ninja. I'd hold on to the one you've got and wait and see what you think in a while. You might decide after a while you want the ZX6 or maybe the 650Ninja. Upgrading to just FI seems a bit of a waste to me

well if he is making his bike choice based on fuel economy I am going to guess he wants a commuting bike, and I have always thought 250's are perfect commuters, don't chew through wheels, which lets face the zx6r and any other serious race centered motorcycle usually will, the 250 only looks racy from a distance so its not hard on the body if your commute is long and they have all the power they need for commuting.

theres probably a million reasons why any one might choose a 250 over a 600 super sport as a commuter. soooo I don't really think downsizing to a 250 is pathetic even if the zx6r is an awesome bike.

mmmm fair enough. i own a 250 2 stroke and itll chew just as much petrol as a 400. some 400's and 600's are mint on petrol. but then again my 250 is twice as nice and goes hard being one of the fastest 250's out. but yer like you said. im into racing so its a whole new perspective but for commuting i cannot see the 250 ninja going wrong. very very very very very very very very crnt help but comprimise how very SMOOTH they are. its like riding air the bike rolls like nothings below. it just glides around. easy gear change. clutch is mint. for commuting yuss! very good. not very sporty..slow peices of c*** but aye lives on the motorway just fine. the clutches on em are badarse u can play with em heaps. they glide. beautiful bike.

It will take a hell of a lot of fuel saving to make up for the cost of changing to the newer bike.

ok think this through. upgrade from an 08 250, to the same 2011 250?
think about it. sell your 08, youll probably be losing what, $1500 off what you paid for it?

then how much is the new one on top of what you get for the old?

how many months of commuting before you break even?

Oh, and then factor in those initial early services you have to do on a brand new bike too, thats extra expense.

Keep what you have. honestly if you have a 250 that was built after 2000, I dont think theres any point in upgrading other than boredom, or unless you are racing.

600's are very economical commuters. Ninja 250 is a disguised 1980s ancient piece of plastic fantastic not worth half the money they go for. It's really a no brainer. If you want fuel economy then learn some hypermiling technique; take corners faster, pump up your tyres, clutch in on downhills, keep average speed consistent and under 100 etc etc.

Yeah - but Fuel consumption is kinda pointless without a reason.

If its to save the planet etc from pollution. Sure. Theres many ways to reduce petrol consumption.
But if its to keep costs down - fuel consumptions only a small component of the costs - add up servicing costs, tyres, chains - heaven forbid but perhaps Spares one day...

Theres still some valid reasons to select a small bike for commuting duties.

The only thing to really decide.....how much Thrill / Grin factor do you want on a weekend blast - when you take a break from being thrifty?
