Maybe this is in the wrong section,
But here in Dunedin its been real crummy and hasnt been raining heavily but it has been spitting heavily if that makes sense, I found I can wipe my visor with the small patch on the left thumb of my gloves, but I have to do it every 2 mins and after a while it stops working due to the amount of water on my glove, I found lifint my visor up a smidgen was enough to clear the water and give me some sight back, but the moment it closed the rain ran down the inside, which leaves me here,
Is there any kinda of product that you can get/use to prevent rain build up on your Visor? I have some of that Rain clean gel that you use on windscreens but I dont want to use something that will mess up my anti fog visor (not a pin lock), that or any tips in the way of clearing my visor without it building up in the centre of my vision etc.

And yes before someone says it, Riding in the rain is a must as my bike is my mode of daily transport, Cheers guys

There really is nothing that works ... for long. Just keep turning your head from side to side and most will blow off the side. At slow speed or stopped ... use the whole of your back hand ... you'll get most, or at least enough to see where you're going ...

Yah, its ok going home because I live out of town and I need to take a 2 lane road that is long sweeping twisties, so I tend to do 100 and I have no problem, but if you get stuck behind a cage, worse off a camper van, then there is absolutly no winning haha, and there are so many places you can pass if you have balls (in the dry and sun) but only a few in the wet especially when your already blinded by water haha

Ill grab some lemon Pledge wipes from work tomorrow then and give it a twirl, or do you recommend the spray can?

Like the man says, Pledge is good.

You used to be able to get a rubber wiper that fitted on your forefinger, worked quite well.

The more modern version: http://www.whites.co.nz/products/teknic/527.aspx

PS: use the spray can. Orange works just as well.

Take you visor off, pledge it, then slowly run water over it, see how it works.
Shower is best to simulate rain..

Haven't seen that. I tried wrapping some cricket bat handle towling type tape on me finger. Better than nothing but not by much.

I use 'Plexus". Not cheap, but very effective.
I wash and dry my visor, then spray with Plexus, and buff up.
It also fixes light scratches.
It has the same effect as Rain-X, but I am led to believe Rain-X makes Perspex brittle. Plexus is made for Perspex.

It also reduces internal fogging.

www.motosolutions.com They do a product called Fogtech as well. works well so far bur have only been out in the wet a couple of times so don't know how long an application lasts. Got 2 packets ( about 20 visor applications ) delivered for about $20 :woohoo:

but I have to do it every 2 mins

Try riding in Waikato fog - you wipe every two seconds...

I use rainex. It extends the wipe interval to 10 seconds...5x better!

In the rain I just do the turn head thing. Seems to work OK...

My Winter gloves have a rubber strip that runs down the right hand side of my left index finger. When it gets too much, I simply wipe it away like a wiperblade.

Such a simple solution, and so handy. On a pair of relatively cheap Dri-Riders.

I have a tinted visor that isnt fog proof, I dont really use it as there isnt any Sun in Dunedin, so I might put my clear visor in my bag and put some anti rain gel on one half of my visor and pledge on the other half, and ill let you know how it goes haha

I use a Skeegee that fits over my left thumb glove & you use it as a wiper. Available from ski shops http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/ski-gee-goggle-wipers.aspx

Will look into something like that, may even create something myself out of an old window wiper blade and some way of putting it on my thumb so its out of the way and will stay on

Microfibre cloth and water before I ride, no cleaning products. I don't touch my visor when riding.

Nikwax do a product called Visor Proof that beads the water.

Any bike shop should be able to supply it.

A good dose of Pledge and the occasional turn of the head at lower speeds.

We used pledge on aircraft windscreens. They do not have windscreen wipers on smaller aircraft.

You have your forefinger in a small deer?

I hesitate to inquire what it is that's "working a treat" for you...

I've found turtle wax ice to be the best stuff for keeping the rain off my visor.

Give it a clean and then polish with turtle wax ice.
The polish is clear so it doesn't smudge and one application lasts a couple of weeks.

Cheap too. It's taken me over a year to use half a bottle and most of that has gone on polishing the bike and the car.

How does that work with fog? It has been foggy (very pea soup like today) and the fog does not "roll" off my visor, I have to wipe.

It is more like a thick swathe of light grey, wet shit, that floats in the air

Reduces your visibility to mere metres...

Yeah, I have had a mixture of that and that Super light drizzle that is so thick you cant see a damn thing, big fat drops of rain I dont have a problem with, they more or less roll themselves off my visor, its that real little shit

Palm of hand on visor, wipe. Repeat every few moments. Where are the Hamilhole residents with their spin on fog?

Yeah I hate that stuff; even the rubber strip along my left glove index finger doesn't have much effect on that. It's like counting off following distances - a thousand and one a thousand and two wipe, a thousand and one a thousand and two wipe, a thousand.... until you're at your destination or out of Brigadoon.

Quite a few MX gloves have a rubber wiper on the outside of the left thumb for wiping shit off your goggles.

Not that it works or anything....
