MOTOGRID.COM - A trustworthy parts site?

My old man is in the process of rebuilding two classic bikes and needs parts. I've been refered on to motogrid.com, who appear to have almost all the parts needed.

Has anyone used these guys or know if they are legit? Before I rush off and charge 3 grand to my credit card on parts that may not turn up.:facepalm:

Quick google search shows one person complaining of slow delivery.

Seems like a few people use it and with only one complaint online it can't be too bad.

Or do some research then if all is well purchase overseas, receive your stuff in many cases sooner than you would if it was sent within NZ and the real kicker for (once again in many cases) a 1/3rd of the price on your doorstep than if you had bought it here,not a crack at you Q ive bought stuff from you and am well happy with it.ive been buying bike parts (shitloads) for years and when possible i will always buy locally,thing is it doesnt happen often as it would be ridiculous to do so purely from a $ point.Anyway back to the thread,Ive posted your question on an overseas based bike forum i frequent heaps filled with members who buy a lot of stuff online,no doubt many have dealt with these guys so will leave it overnight and see what they have to say.

Fair call to.Rock n hard place really,theres much to be bought here,theres a heap of respected people dealing in specific areas re bikes but im my experience often for hard to get bits it easier/cheaper to go overseas.

Totally get the argument that I should buy NZ made and from experience with overseas vs NZ it often is good to keep it local. HOWEVER, I'm yet to find a dealer/manufacturer who can supply enough quality parts to completely rebuild two '70s two strokes. Parts are impossible to find it seems, and this site has the lot. If it checks out.

Regarding import tax, I don't think I can find a way around it. If I order in small shipments it costs a f**king sh*tload per package, so I might be best to just take the hit in one lump sum. Thoughts on that anyone?

Been my experience that a phone call explaining our customs dept and the ridiculous way they look at things sorts it out and packages are labelled to suit.No way am i paying GST on something ive bought from a country that thinks GST is a brand of fly spray and nothing more.

(no not the ha ha kind0 Well, get them from Blue Wing Honda (which actuallly has a new parts manager, who I'd bet good money will let the shitty status quo continue) and they'll take more than three weeks. That assumes that all of your parts come in one order, which they won't, so maybe 6-8 weeks. Get them from the states, and it'll be ten days, even over Christmas.

Last month I imported an engine (two stroke) which didn't collect any duty, but I've ordered other smaller parts that have. Luck of the draw pretty much, just budget for it and pay for it, and if they neglect to collect, good for you.
