Hyosung GV250 bike lift - Do I or don't I?

Gidday all,

Looking around for a suitable bike lift for my GV250. There are a few on Trade Me but to be honest I am not really sure what would be the best.

I want to start doing my own basic servicing at home (oil / filters, plugs etc etc), have asked around and the general concencus is I need a bike (although someone reckoned I could drain the oil without one).

Aaaaannnyyy way, best I ask the experts so, can you advise me:

1 - Do I really need one for the basic stuff, and
2 - If I do, what would be suitable

Oh you will definitely need a bike Max :laugh: hard to service a bike without a bike.

I don't know your bike our kid but most simple servicing can be done without a bike lift, do you have a centre stand? they sure make life easier. you should be able to do your oil easy enough though you may have to hold or prop the bike upright to get the last of the oil out. Give it a go, worst case scenario is you have to by a bike jack @ $200ish, very useful. You certainly do not need a 'Lift' as in a table that cranks up to eye level. good luck.

Mark I have one. You could happily try it out to see if it helps you decide if you need one or not. I presume that by bike lift yo uare referring to the rear stand that lifts the bike up and perches the rear wheel in the air (rear stand). ie a paddock stand...am i right?

If I am, have one, happy to loan it out if you'd like to test concept out, or indeed loan it your way when you are up for your service timings...

I use it in the garage for Nats and my bike for bits and pieces, but we haven't done any servicing on ours as yet, the shops done that for us. Always thought having the paddock stand would be useful though..

I recently bought one of those lift tables from Trademe (review coming soon) if you want to try it out (might cost you a cd though :-). You roll the bike onto the table, then pump it up with a foot lever,
My back can't take the bending any more.
