First ride home tonight on my new (second hand) Hornet!!!!!!!!

Alicetown to Plimmerton via Haywards and Pauatahanui inlet :woohoo:

Thanks heaps to all the folk that replied to my original thread http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/136119-Hello-midlife-crisis-I-ve-been-expecting-you

Great advice on which bikes might be appropriate for a newb who's slightly on the taller side.

My learning has just begun - I do intend to take it slowly. Reckon a bike maintenance course might also be a good idea with of course time on the road.

Picked up bike via TSS Red Baron - thanks to Susan and team for support and patience with my purchase. Highly recommend these folk.

I think I might have difficulty sleeping tonight - bring on the weekend

See you out there!!

Barts.

Susan's lovely, I've heard that Jimmy might be a bit homo though!

(agree about the right choice).

+1 on the basic maintenance course, I personally think it should be a license requirement for cars and bikes.

I am now going to test the theory "there's no such thing as a stupid question" ..

Q. Exactly how should I angle my rear view mirrors?

Maybe it's just me needing to get use to riding a bike however I am finding it hard to see (and feel comfortable) with what's behind me!

I either see my shiny new jacket arms or adjust further and take in a great view of er nothing.

So I've given the odd "lift the arms out and see the reflection of my under-arms" however that just looks stupid.

I am looking over my shoulder when changing lanes but what about all other times.

It's OK if your pissing yourself laughing. It's all good fun eh.

I park my bike up the driveway and set my mirrors so I can see the end of the driveway in both without ducking or moving my head to get a better view, this seems to work for me and on the road I have plenty of vision.

backwards! :bleh:

I use same method as ducatilover, but have to angle mine in a bit further so they converge about 15m behind me otherwise I just see shoulders.

Nice choice in bike, I like the muffler location on them, and honda reliability :woohoo:

Q. Exactly how should I angle my rear view mirrors?

I hear ya matey, I've just bought virtually the same bike, look like the same mirrors too, and I find I have to slide my head out to get past my shoulders.

Will try out those suggestions though.

Nice bike dude, and happy riding! :woohoo:

Good stuff, remember you will never stop learning. Your skills can always improve and get better. Stay safe. And always ride with in your self. At the same time biking is a great adventure so enjoy it.
