Wohoooo I am back riding again... :ride:
Yep I know I was supposed to wait til Friday... but it got the better of me.
After putting on all my gear again... plus the m/bike pants that lou gave me, and they are so warm to wear (Thanks Lou)
So off up the motorway, I headed towards the city....
WOHOOOO wow it felt great.... :ride:
I went to get the tyre pressure's checked out at Motohaus...
since the bike had not moved in the 8 weeks, I had a wee chat with Kerry.
After having done about 20kms I was starting to feel it in my tum muscles.
Thought ouch time to get home....
So I then headed back down the motorway... to grab a couple of things at the supermarket.
So all I have done on the bike today is 38kms.
Now that may not seem a lot but for me today that was heaps...
So I now know that I really have to rebuild up the kms slowly and not over do it. I feel that it may take a little while before I will go and do a long bike run again. But I am ok with the small rides to the shops and back etc.
But I am so glad that I went out on the bike today.
These last 8 weeks have been a long 8 weeks.
But I am now back.... WOHOOOOOOOO.

Congratulations, crashe!
Take it easy, but enjoy yourself.
Yeah, I know that's probably a contradiction in terms, but this is that kind of thread where it's mandatory to shower the poster in platitudinous drivel... Did I just say that out loud

cheers guys and gals....
Yep I am healing nice and slowly.... but still have a long way to go..
Still no heavy lifting etc....
Just taking it one day at a time...
Now feeling sore and tired after todays little ride, but then I was expecting that to happen... as that happened when I started to drive my car as well.
So its just short wee rides.... and build up the stamina...
Nope I wont be doing the coro loop until at least summer....

Doctors! Pah! According to the doctor I shouldn't ride the bike or abseil with my arm in a cast - no way I was having with his crap!
Admittedly, a properly immobilised broken wrist is trivial compared with what Crashe has gone through (healed a lot quicker, too), but the principle is the same - it is we who inhabit our bodies and we have a better idea of what we can handle than any other person - even a doctor.
Good on ya mate.
Listen to your bod as you have been - it'll let you know when and how much.

hhhhhmmmmm the KB "Camp Mother" (I just had to sorry mate) ignores all the advice she would give to other KBers about riding before the doc says its ok.
Good on ya!
If you up for it I could potter down tomorrow arvo and race you around the block to the dairy. Give me a yell (or a text) if you up for it

Im thinking of going up the nor-western, along greenheithe.

2nd July 2005, 16:46
WOHOOOO I did 100kms all up today...
I got to Albany, and I thought what the heck, Whangarparoa is only just up the road...
So off I rode... and txt'd MadDuck to see if she has a ice cream in her freezer or whether I needed to go on to Orewa... hehehe.
So that was a nice stop for the ice cream and a cuppa...
Headed back down the motorway over da bridge and stopped at a mates on the way home.
On the ride up to Whangarparoa today, I did pass a few bikes going the other way... I waved and they waved back. :ride:
But, there was one bike that overtook me just before Whangarparoa...
They overtook me, a car and two trucks right on the brow of a hill and then there was the double yellow line... I dont know how they could see if anything was coming towards them.
It was a nice ride today, as it was sunny, just going at the pace of other cars etc... a real nice cruisey ride as I wasn't in any rush. :ride: :ride:
You know after being off the bike for 8 weeks, it does take a bit to get into the hang of it again. :ride:
Now feeling a tad tired.... but thats ok as I have to build up the kms slowly and get the tum and leg muscles working again...
One doesnt realise just how much one uses those muscles when riding.
But it was an awesome day to be out there riding.
:ride: :ride: :ride: :ride: :ride:

Crashe made me feel so damn guilty about the gardens growing in my gutters I spent the day on the roof cleaning them out. Should have been out riding!!!
Great to see you out and about on that bike mate. Look forward to the next KB ride. Damn not long before you wanting to tackle the Loop again.

awwwww MadDuck.... you know I would have climbed up on ya roof and cleaned your gutters out for you.....
well maybe in a few months.... hehehe
SORRY about spelling your wee township wrong....hehehehe.
Yesterday (Sunday), it was such a beautiful day..... so off I went again....
Back up to Albany, to Diary Flat... across to Kaukopakopa (sp) to Helensville and back down to west Auckland..... headed down Don Buck Rd.... to see a mate...
Well that was 100km non-stop ride. wohooooo. :ride: :ride:
I am getting there.... :ride: :ride:
EXCEPT for one bump on the way back from Helensville...
it was going over a bridge with a huge bump in it...
I have never ever noticed it before..
but FARK when I went over it.. I had a shooting pain all the way up inside me....OUCH OUCH... but I was brave and continued to ride.... couldnt do much else...hehehe. That was a horrible reminder..... its the only time that has happened, and it aint gonna put me off.
Only saw a few bikes out on that ride...... wonder where they all were?
So today I aint riding....just resting up....

You call that road fixed.....
The workmanship is disgusting...
There is more bumps on that road now than there was before they pulled it all up. IMHO.
