Spent the afternoon riding it.
Stunning.
If you thought they couldn't improve what was already a good bike - hook up a test ride. Not sure when they hit the showrooms. I'll post up on the KR site when I get all tha fax jack.
Killer Brembos, great handling - any hint of skittishness from the Kyaba equipped older models is gone. What was already my favourite engine's low down grunt has been enhanced.
You wanna lift the front a little on exits? Sit back a bit and twist harder, but it doesn't do it with the lumps of a v-twin. It just has that big triple growl and hammers.
5 Schwings. Seriously.

Good to know it is a step up.
It may ride well, but still an ugly baby - IMO. No - I'm not just saying that because I am "stuck" with a 2010.
Still Showa forks? I find them very jack hammer / pogo-ish. Not a spring rate problem (although I believe they still use progressives in the front).
Everything else is great - 1 or 2 finger braking is brilliant (Brembos are to brakes what eye fillet is to steaks).

I agree about the looks to a point, They look much better BLACK, of course.

3 way adjustable Showa (I assume - still got research to do) forks. Firm, nada pogo at road speeds.
I like the looks, and the much pooped on headlights. Particularly without the extra bodywork.
Kyaba
You sure about that Dave? Seriously, cause I understood they're Showa.
In saying that, I've ridden the new 2011 and I really liked it. Certainly light years ahead of my 05 in stock form, though mine is far from stock:D
Word is that the headlights are a vast improvement over the old models also. However there is a small issue with the Polycarbs cracking, though I only know of 2 at present.
Fantastic bike though!:msn-wink:

:
They have had Showas for the last 2 or 3 model years. Before that they had Kyaba. Which incidentally have got a lot better over that time too. S'wot I meant.

Oh ok, I was only going by the Race Tech site which said my 05 were Showa. RT took care of them anyway, whatever they are.

Actually I owe Triumph an apology after publicly slagging off their new headlights. At my age I should have known better than to make a decision on photos alone.
I spied one in the flesh at my local dealer this evening (Street & Sport CHCH are OPEN yeah). Looks very good and the lights are physically smaller than they appear in photos.
Everything looks better actually - a much cleaner and tidier package.
Plus he fired it up for me - don't know how it passed noise regulations but it has a nice deep grow at idle better than many after-market systems (with their db killers in).
Well done Triumph.

I'm shooting from the hip here, but my recollection was that they changed the standard suspenders to Showas with the Anniversary Model - but it could easily have been earlier. There was a period of optional upgrades too.
I did note the change on the Tiger and the Sprint when it happened though. That is more recently.
It could also depend on where (what market) the NZ batches came from. Triumph's specs aren't universal.

personally i dont like the plastic on the side. to me it just looks slapped on, any way to remove it, is it functional or purely for cosmetics?
i do like the new one but prefer the previous for aesthetics. but im sure some will love it.
either way i want a speedy ;_(

Those headlights are growing on me. By the time I can afford one I'm sure I'll like them a lot more than I do now.

If I win my court case I might be interested :sherlock: I thought the previous models were bordering on unintentionally retro (but great to ride).

ya, on the speed.
but i'd never buy a 1000 cc bike.
i'd rather stay on the lighter street, and think they have not put the abs on that yet...
