G'day all,

Just a quick note to let everyone know Rolling Thunder Harley-Davidson is officially back up and running at our existing premises on 35 Manchester Street.

We are having a BBQ on Saturday, May 14th from 9am onwards.

All are welcome for something to eat and drink and to catch up with friends.

We've been here 47 years....a couple bloody earthquakes aren't going to stop us.

From the entire R/T team, thank you all for your patience and much welcome support.

------------

A bit about us on what we've been up to since the quake:

The first few days were nuts....we used our shop vehicles and some staff to help in an effort with mates at Canterbury Brewing and off-shift mates in the NZ Army to distribute over 8000L of drinking water in the most affected suburbs(mostly CHCH East) until the main effort kicked in.

We were operating our workshop offsite since a fortnight after the quake trying to help folks with the insurance assessments and begin repairs as best we could...and help customers who needed shifting around.

We made it back into our building when the cordon dropped about 6 weeks ago. Fortunately, our building and stock suffered very light damage...mostly a few ceiling and floor tiles, a lot of helmets falling of the shelf, and a few bikes tipping over.

Unfortunately, the bicycle shop and print shop adjacent to us were red stickered, fenced in(including our front and back door!) and prevented us from opening fully for retail trade until they were demolished.

The good news is there's now LOTS more parking with all the new empty lots :)

During the down time, when not dealing with the effort to reopen as soon as possible, we built a new bike we call "Bad Bob".

Idle hands are the devil's workshop.

That, and we came up with some more nutty ideas to get people out on their bikes, and to hopefully show folks a good time.

I popped along for a look, well done and good to see somethings trying to get back to normal.
What ever that is.
Must say town is a mess and a lot of empty spots where shops etc use to be.
The poor old city will never be the same.
