Travelling Route 66

Doing Route 66 in September with a tour group. Have been advised to take all gear; anyone out there done the ride who can give me idea of best gear to take and what to expect weather-wise across several temperature zones....Chicago to L.A? Getting excited although a few months away yet. Any travel, money, food tips would be really appreciated.

Click on Advanced Search at top right - type "Route 66" in the Keywords box (complete with the quotation marks), and change the search option alongside to Search Titles Only - you'll find the topic has been well covered...:yes:
