We have 3 DR650s and a BMW 650 XCountry stored in Mendoza, Argentina pending another trip. The next trip we are contemplating requires us to have the bikes on the east coast of South America by say the end of September 2011, but we are a flexible both with timing and route. Reasonable riding ability required. Age group of previous trips 26 to 60 years young.

About 4 weeks would need to be blocked out. Tentative itinerary is:- Fly into Mendoza, get bikes out of storage, new tyres, service etc. Up to San Juan, across Atacama (Chile) to Copiopo then up the coast to Arequipa. Then down the Colca Canyon to Cusco, Marchu Pichu, then back to L Titicaca, La Paz, Road of Death, then down to Chochabamba, into Paraguay then across the Partinal (golden anaconda country) to the falls, down through Uruguay to Montevideo. Leave the bikes in Montevideo or Buenos Aires in storage for next trip.

All up about 6,500 clicks, $1850 for flights, $2000 + for the bike ($100/day of actual riding) (DR 650 with long range tank, ancillary tanks, panniers etc) this pays for new sprockets, chains, tyres, fork seals, oil etc and a bit of the storage cost and is about half what you would pay for a similar sit up if you were hiring. Our last trip, which was along a similar route up through the Alti Plano initially, cost us NZ$100/day for petrol, accommodation and food. All up you are looking at about NZ$7,350. If keen, contact me asap 021 394 592 as we have to get bike ownership transferred, flights booked etc. Also need a visa for Paraguay.

Bikes are fitted with soft panniers, heated grips, heavy duty tyres/tubes, blue slime, power feeds and wind screens. Lead bike fitted with zumo 660 with smellybiker maps. We sleep in hostels, home stays on the cheaper side but are not adverse to the occasional splurge on a flash hotel.

One place left at the moment. Age of guys so far 33, 55, 60, all laid back easy going kiwis.
