Hey guys,
So i just bought a 2005 zx6r, and i would like to find out its submodel number?
i keep hearing c or a or b floating around, was just wondering what they were and how to identify them?
Ive been told mine is a "c" model.
Where does this model come from? i know mine is a New Zealand new but what area is it based from?
basically just looking for some more info regarding the models for the 05-06 zx6r
cheers,

I don't blame the bike running away from our weather. Maybe it just wanted to get ridden year round. :D

Why does mine have a canadian Sticker on it? lol
Because it's compliant with Canadian standards (metric speedo) and possibly because it was manufactured by Kawasaki in Lincoln Nebraska.

Because most NZ new Kawasaki road bikes are Canadian spec ones.
One exception I know of is the latest ZX10. The ABS version of it is Aussie spec (full power). The non ABS version is Canadian spec... and has less hp

Congrats, I hope you don't fit an obscenely noisy Micron muffler onto it like some black bandits do.

I didn't know of any Supersports that were made in the US. I know some of the manufacturers make cruisers in the US. Usually the Canadian sticker will have country of origin.

Does that mean its made to North american emission and noise laws? a lower HP? or is that only American market zx6r's?

You're worried about nothing; if you need a faster bike just buy one.
Now having said that, 'free' is never to be sneezed at, so head over to the ZX forums and see what the Kwaka trainspotters have to say. Perhaps there's a few ponies hidden by something simple like an inlet restrictor or similar.

Im just trying to get to know my bike better, learn the ins and outs.
There are a couple of things i could do if it was the North american model, but im not too fussed.

I use to have a Canadian model 2002 ZX-6R. I know that at that time Europe was getting the 636 motor, be we didn't. Also, in North America manufacturers will sometimes make 2 types of bikes. One for California (they have lame emission laws) and a couple of other states and one for everyone else. More recently they have been making just 1 type of bike, for everyone. The only difference with the Canadian bike is usually the Speedometer and odometer and temperature gauge C vs F.
My guess is that they send you guys the Canadian models for whatever reason. I know our government has a picky anal testing procedure in order to pass transport Canada's approval process. So most likely it will meet NZ standards as well. So instead of sending you the American one, they probably send you the Canadian spec bikes because all the metric gauges are already sorted out. No clue why they don't send you a UK model.... or something else.
That's my guess.

Does the Canadian Model have any emission/noise restrictions?
thanks mate!

Yes our current new bikes (or at least the vast majority) come with a catalytic converter for emissions and they do have dB limits as well. Some of our police officers have dB meters in their cars, the problem is whether they know how to test it (distance from muffler, rpm range, height of testing equipment.... etc). All motorcycle exhausts need to have baffles as well. However, I believe that is the case for most models sold around the world.
