...passed away last night after being a part of our family for some 16 years.
She was fit and active right till the end, she even caught herself a bird last week!

She turned up on our doorstep as a wee, barely weaned kitten, that someone had dumped. She was nuerotic, psychotic at times, terrified of strangers and even her own shadow. But there was just something about her...

I won't miss her ankle tapping me because I'm 5 minutes late feeding her. I won't miss her yowling. I won't miss the way she pissed on people's bikes/cars/gear. But I will miss her, dreadfully.

Things are just not the same.
RIP Mistress Missy

Yes my sympathies too, I understand all too well.

As I write, my 16yr Siamese is pacing around my chair insisting it's tea-time. He's a complete member of our family. He will leave an awful gap in our home one of these days.

I'm sorry to hear that. RIP.

My wee Abu is about 15/16 years old & has developed a bad limp due to arthritis, the metal splints in her hind leg hurt when it rains (car accident) & she drools a lot but she is still out & about & pestering me for food & cuddles.
She has stuck by me through 11 address changes, a marriage, numerous girlfriends, a brief bout of insanity & still loves me even though she has to contend with a bull terrier now too. I feel her time is drawing close too, just hope she is comfortable til the end.

Our Missy did not die due to old age, even though she was getting on a bit. She has always been wary of cars, and stayed away from any that were moving. We don't know how, but she failed to avoid just one....
She had many names - Furbag, Stomachbag, Mistress Missy the Mad Moggy. She was quite peculiar at times. She hated moving and would hide somewhere for as much as a week. Her vet would make a housecall, rather than traumatise her with a trip to his surgery. As YT said, she arrived on our doorstep as a 6-8 week old little bundle of fluff, so she chose us as her staff, and she kept us on a short leash.
We will miss her terribly.

Oh I am sooooo glad this thread is not what it could have been...

having said that, I am sorry to hear about your old girl. We still have Amadeus sitting in a little box on our mantle piece until we feel sufficiently ready to scatter his ashes in the back yard. Our poochy sat there for quite a few months before we were ready to finally let him go running free over the estuary on an outgoing tide.

Know where you're coming from too with "I won't miss..." with some of their behaviours and habits, but the whole package will definitely be missed.

Sorry for your loss, Janet and John! The furry little buggers leave paw prints on your heart, eh?
I've got a new kitten... Sooty. She is 10 weeks old, and a bloody hardcase. Her hobbies include eating, purring, biting, clawing, killing etc.....

:( Sorry to hear that. I could throttle my noisy fat ole ragdoll some days but hell I'd be devestated if anything happened to him (what a softie). Hope you have some fond memories.

Sad to hear your pussy cat has moved on to the great food bowl in the sky.

We were just figuring out the other day that our 3 legged moggy is about 12 years old, and wondering how much longer she's got, possibly not much longer if she keeps crapping on the rug in the kitchen.....

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together
Thought's are with you both XXXXX

The silly thing is she was not a lap cat, she wouldn't even sit next to me on the couch. She hated to be picked up and cuddled too, and would struggle like mad if anyone dared to do it. Even the vet said she had "issues".
Its crazy how they get under your skin eh?

I do...

Doing a trip around the East Cape a few years ago, we availed ourselves of the MSTRS/Tart hospitality for a couple of days. The morning we were leaving I had my gear on the driveway next to the bike and ducked inside for a quick pee before heading out. Walked up to my gear and saw liquid running down the concrete from it  I thought my drink bottle had leaked, but no, it was the cat that had leaked, all over my gear

Pissy pussy strikes again

My first cat lived to 19. Gizmo our current cat is about 6kg and very lazy but only about 6 so should be around for a while yet.

Animals do tend to ingratiate themselves into your hearts, so sorry to hear of your sadness.

Awwwwww bugga. We're at the opposite end of the spectrum, cat-sitting a couple of kittens for a friend who was offered an awesome 12 month position in the UK not long after stumping up for these two pedigree ragamuffins. As life long dog people we were more than a lil' hesitant about taking on these two frankly poofy lookin' things....but yep, the lil' fuckers have wangled their way into our bed and our hearts. Don't get me wrong, they are fuggin' trouble: on the one hand we're hoping the original owner will grab them back quicksmart when she returns, but on the other we won't be too disappointed if she never takes 'em back. Sorry for your loss. I'd rather deal with animals over people any day.

That attitude sounds just like the tortoiseshell malevolent entity that allows us to stay in her house.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
