Who has RG 150s in Wellington?

When I had mine in 1998 there were heaps around, but I haven't seen so many lately. I traded mine in when I bought the Beemer and it was apparently sold to a cop, but he only kept it a short time and sold it again. I'd love to know if this is my old bike - it was a 1998 model, bought new from Wellington Motorcycles. Looked after like a baby! Sounds like yours has had a bit of a hard life in the past few years, but I still reckon you'll have heaps of fun on it. The Goose is like a slightly civilised RG - still a lot of fun!

It goes well enough that you don't have to hang around with other RG riders though - think big!

Oh, you have my first born! I loved that bike, in fact after trading it in on the Beemer I missed it like hell - mostly because they took it a month or two before my new bike arrived so I had NOTHING to ride for months!

How many owners has it had and how many kms has it done now? It had done about 24,000 when I sold it to Motorad. They told me a guy at the police college had bought it - he may not have been a cop, I just figured he probably was! And what is wrong with an RG150 cop bike Ixion? Huh? Just because the red and blue lights would have clashed with the purple colour scheme! Hey, those visi lights were perhaps a forerunner of flashing lights!

If there is anything you want to know about the bike, feel free to ask, I had it for four years from new and from 1999 my partner (now husband) serviced it so if you need any info, just ask.

Here's a photo of me with my baby the first time I tackled the Paekakariki Hill! It's so cool to know someone else is having fun on my bike now!

I guess we cant go riding togeather on our rgs then :rofl: Its only done 28k. I think it has had about 3 owners in total (Not including you) The last guy had it for over a year but kept is outside and it has got a bit of surface rust on it.

It seems to still go pretty well. I am in the process of changing the gearbox oil and pulling out the power valves to clean them and see what they look like (apparently very important).

The power valve was just starting to play up when I traded it in - you'd pull out to overtake and wind the throttle on and ... NOTHING! It was so embarrassing having to pull back in again or wait for a tail wind!

The speedo was checked for accuracy and they said they fixed it but I still reckon it under-read by a fair bit. I would be doing 120kph and my other half would tell me his speedo was only reading about 105. I did see 175 on the dial at Manfeild (probably about 150 for real!), so it's not too bad for a little bike. Oh, and the cop along the Himatangi Straights pinged me for 123kph so I know it goes at least that fast! On our club runs I'd get guys asking me if it was a 400 because it managed to keep up with most of the bikes.

It must have been used as a commuter because it had done close to 24,000ks in 2002 when I sold it. Shame about the rust, it was in mint condition when it left me. Did it get sold with the original seat? I had two seats - one with some padding taken out so I could get my short legs closer to the ground, and the one it came with, and I gave both to Motorad when they picked it up.

So the visi-lights are still working after all these years? I was told they would make the bike more visible - and my other half said he could always see me in his mirrors no matter how far behind him I was, so I suppose they worked. I haven't got them on my other bikes.

Oh the memories that bike brings back! I don't miss the kick start though - I remember stalling it in the middle of the Taranaki/Wakefield St intersection one day and having to do the Ewan Gilmour "sorry" sign as I frantically kicked it over! (Someone suggested a few years ago that motorists should raise their hand, palm outwards, to indicate they are sorry if they did something stupid like pulling out in front of you, etc. and he incorporated it into his act, saying we should do that as we go past a speed camera - then the cops would look at all the photos and say "oh, this one was sorry, don't give him a ticket!") Didn't seem to work for me though, all I got was tooting of horns, raised fingers and "you stupid prick!" insults - they obviously thought I was a guy so that's okay!

It seems to have a standard seat, as far as I can tell.

I just went for a 14km ride and it seems to be running sweet :) Plenty fast enough for me for now. Now I just need to do 1000km and then go back to roadsafe and do my restricted. :Punk:
