A customer in my shop awhile back lives 200mtr from the start & offered me accommodation should I ever make it over their. His mate is one of the motorcycling medics, awesome!

Racing was abandoned early at today’s Relentless International North West 200 as a result of a major oil spill from a competitor’s bike. The spillage, which resulted from a mechanical issue, started at Church Corner and extended to Juniper Hill. After lengthy and exhaustive attempts to clean the area and following close examination by race officials and a competitor it was decided that despite the cleanup operation the road was still in a hazardous condition. As always the safety of the riders is the key priority and the race stewards after receiving all the information had no alternative but to stop racing for the day.
NW200 Technical Director Mervyn Whyte MBE said, “This is obviously extremely disappointing for everyone, riders, spectators, sponsors and the hundreds of volunteers who have worked tirelessly towards this day. Unfortunately the fact is that the oil spill was just too extensive to clean up to ensure an optimum level of safety for the riders. Despite repeated efforts by the cleanup team the affected stretch of road was just still in too dangerous a condition to continue racing.
Combined with the delays caused by a hoax security alert and the inclement weather it has been a challenging day. Despite this we enjoyed a very close run Supersport Race 1 which was won by local rider Alastair Seeley. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this year’s Relentless International NW200, for their patience and support today and we look forward to running a full programme next year.”That would piss me off!

They got one race in and that was the Supersport, a great battle in wet conditions between Seely and Donald, bloody nutters!.

He's at the pointy end of road racing in the UK so I'm guessing that it wasn't the result of sloppy bike preparation- but I'm also guessing that everyone who worked on the bike is running a mental check list of everything they did (or didn't do) !!

Imagine putting your hand in your overall pocket and finding a washer or bolt or split pin :sick:

Damn. Not someone you'd expect to be the cause of an oil spill cos him and his team are at the pointy end of the UK/Irish race scene. Teams at that level are very professional and far less likely to be the result of somebody missing something (although it's not impossible cos they are still people after all).

I reckon in the been there, done that and now I get to brag about it stakes Road Racing in Ireland is close to the top for me, the IOM being the top of the list. Mad bastards, the lot of them.

Far Q totally dominated at Cookstown on a standard ZXR. He was talking about having a Superbike spec ZXR for the NW200. I guess in the rush to get it ready something went wrong...?

It was kinda weird watching it when it started blowing oil, didnt seem to lose any power or speed, hence why he carried on so far. Wasnt like the engine went bang, maybe an oil line came lose or something? Arent the bikes required to have a catch tray that can hold all the oil?
The 600 race is well worth watching, one of the best races you will see if you enjoy bikes drafting, quite spectacular!

A catch belly pan wont catch shit when the bike's traveling at almost 200mph.

Yes they are, but they are also required to have removeable bungs in them for rain races, so the rain does not build up in the under belly and gush water onto your tyre, so my guess is these bungs had been removed hence oil everywhere]
