ok. I own a gn250. its only done 15,000k's. The front breaks have always had a slight squeal to them and i was told it was unavoidable. The back breaks have never had this. Last week i took my bike to get a new chain as the one that was on it was kaput. The placed and o-ring chain and sprocket kit on it for me. Upon receiving the bike i notice the brakes to be very loose so i asked them to tighten them. however i am now having a very loud drone/whine when i depress the brakes lightly/slowly. IF i fully engage the breaks there is no noise. But when im just slightly pressing on them to drop a couple of k's on the motorway they whine. And its not a standard whine/squeal you would expect from brakes. I have also noticed that when the brakes are pressed very lightly the noises pulsates.

Does any one know what causes this. I thought i might be the brakes need replacing but there is no reduced stopping ability. the breaks work fine as far as i can tell. But the noise is loud and travels so i want it gone.
Thanks

Sounds like it could be brake dust build up.

Strip, clean, check Brake shoes for wear (especialy un-even wear) and re install or replace.

Was it a snapping sound and you're unable to move your legs afterward?

If so, I'd reccommend not moving and ringing an ambulance, which may be difficult given that I just told you not to move.
