Just thought I'd post this in here because this ride evolved out of another thread and is tucked away in the "New Members" part where people might not see it.

10:30 at Caltex Rimutaka - the usual. Anyone who's keen, come along.

Sounds good to me.

How's the road at the moment? I've heard that there was some snow up there recently so hopefully they haven't covered the road in crap.

I hope to be at the pub by then. Either that or still there from Friday night

Have you seen all the marquees going up around Wellington so they can fit more drunks in :Punk: And courtney place is closed for the weekend so I would have to take the long way to get onto the motorway. Soo many excuses :whocares:

Yay...Marquees. Yay...Courtenay place closed off (unlike New Years when it took 30mins to walk on teh 'sidewalk' from Jet to Milk!). I'll not be making this ride either...I intend to be still partying from Phil Reynolds set.

Mrs H and I are planning a "road the blocker" tomorrow (Wairarapa various routes, Saddle Hill, home via Palmerston North). If we're away at a reasonable hour we may see some of you at Caltex Rimutaka. Waifs and strays are always welcome to join us.

Hell, I'd love to come, but somehow I don't think I'd keep up in my oilburner. But I'll be there as soon as I sell my boat and buy something that is built for speed. Have fun tomorrow guys. :ride:

Hey All,
Thanks for the great ride! To my horror I realised it's the first time I've been over the Rimutakas since I came back from my SI tour! Anyway great to catch up with everyone.

Thanks Mike for staying back with me at the start...and you too Bruce (although I suspect that was more to do with the bike you had aquired at that stage of the ride). Sels1 and I headed back over the Takas and man oh man was it cccccold on that Hutt M/W! THen coming through town we got behind some young chaps who thought it was really cool that their car back fired like a sawn off shotgun! After the first few times I no longer had a heart attack every time it happened.

Cheers whoever organised it. :2thumbsup

Btw - the 'petrol pissing out problem' seems to have righted itself. :spudwhat:

What a beaut eh. Great weather, brekkie in Martinborough (along with 54,000 other bikers), awesome roads, and no offs - an greeeeat day out riding. And to top it all off a decent ab work out from the hilarities of visiting Wgtn hospital (not Dave).
Good to be out riding again with you guys that came! And, yay CSL that you're bike is ok! Mikey - did yours survive the trip home ok?

Mrs H and I enjoyed meeting up with the 53,998 other bikers at the Martinborough Hotel. It was great to escape into near perfect riding conditions. While the MH is OK for change, things will be better once the Fush reopens.

After toodling off through Gladstone and Masterton, we vroomed up SH2 to Woodville, through the Gorge to Ashhurst for a coffee and then off home via Feilding, Rongotea and Taikorea. We arrived home in tonnes of time for the footy. And just as well too...

Yes it seemed funny not going to the Fish. But what a great day, to be able to dine outdoors in the middle of winter. And the oppotunity to wind up some Lions supporters staying at the MH....actually they were good sorts and were impressed with the line up of bikes.

Got home in time to get set up with some mates at the Pinetree Arms (local rugby pub)to watch a fantastic display of rugby prowess by the All Blacks

my bike was semi okay.

going back down hill (hut side) i was witness to a hideous crime. someone rear ended a car an shot off back up the hill. i tried to follow but he was just to damm quick.

A good day if a little cold to start/finish with. We left Caltex a bit earlier than the 59,998 others so we were ensconced (sp Hitcher?) @ the MH when the others arrived. Chose the MH because the tables were in the sun and we could keep an eye on the bikes.

Hamish did some riding round Ponatahi after we left the MH, I went straight back to the top of the hill and hung around there.

HEAPS of bikes out and about, it was good to see.
