The Bro in Law has an FZR 250 rolling chasis and is considering a GL 145 implant. Do you need to run a full electical system and battery as he has been told by 'someone' who knows this stuff??

No battery needed,
We (three of us) run the points / coil / condensor straight off the black and white wire out of the cases, the rest can be all turfed.
If you get stuck i can post a pic of how to wire it up.

Just to add a little there, make sure the body of the coil is earthed well..

You certainly do need the battery or the indicators will lag & not flash at idle.:innocent:

Reading on the vincent crabtree website, I get the impression I can use an xr200 cam in my gl145 motor. As it seems to have more duration than the smaller xr motors, which I assume the GL shares its cam with.
Anyone had any experience like this with GL and XR motors ?
