It all started when Wharfy gave me a KR150, after all those years helping the VMCC I finally got to race. I never used to know how much preperation was needed to prepare for a race meeting, but i soon learnt. It was a bit hard to find somewhere to practise my starts and gear changing before the winter series so me and dad ended up in the carparks after hours:yes:. Thanks to Skunk and Henk i got to go to the easter bucket meeting a couple of weeks before round 1, which gave me some actual track time to practise.

Despite mine and dads best efforts my brakes where still a bit too spongy on race day, so alex swapped mine for his for the day as he wasnt using his bike. I started off the day doing 1.59's which i wasnt very happy with but thanks to Moto Academy Steve's help with my cornering by the end of the day i was doing 1.49's, i was very happy:yes: I ran off the track in toyota in race 2 due to missing a gear near the end of the front straight and stuffing things up.

Overall I have no idea why I was so nervious at the beginning of the day, I thought I improved alot and did well for a beginner and would just like to thank my sponsors and supporters Alex Hockly of Ride Life (Heidenau Tyres + DP brake pads), Wharfy, Shaun Harris of Motodynamix, Moto Academy NZ, Billy of ACR Fibreglass, and Dad + Mum. Big thanks to the VMCC and volunteers for making the day run as smoothly as it did. Cant wait untill im doing 1.30's:woohoo:.

Very proud of you daughter. Unfortunately it will be harder for you, than others, to go-fast. My DNA is overloaded with the genes for beauty, leaving too little space for the go-fast genes. Never mind, have fun.

I'm sure your dad has the genes for writing race reports though. You could dictate them while he writes them!!

Well done Mihi :)

Are you doing the coaching thing with the club/moto academy? That looks an awesome deal for the season's coaching. (I know we discussed things when I was down there, but I'm useless and forget lots and then wonder why the hell I remember the odd stuff I do remember, pretty random brain, but I do remember us discussing the Vic rounds lol).

Catch up with you soon(ish) :)

You should watch some videos of races from onboard cameras. Quite a few people don't hit the same piece of tarmac twice. But that's the nature of going fast from some, they're on the ragged edge all the time.

I think i might just have a look at some then:yes:

The trick is to get your lines right, at speed and hit the same line every time.
Keep at it and you'll get there.
Good to see you enjoyed yourself.

Random question: how long does it take from the Vinegar Hill turnoff to the track? (distance would be good too). Yes, I know I've ridden it once, but I never pay attention to time if I don't need to, and thinking it could be a cool diversion on the way to Wellington (yeah, okay, I loved the lookout over the plains, but the road wasn't bad on the bike either)

There's two ways from Wellington to Manfeild going whatever road it is. One you turn off earlier and then there's the second one, where you head down the road, cross a bridge/ford (some sort of park after 1km down the hill) and go across a ridgeline, where there's a cool lookout on the right hand side, looking down over the plains/valley/whateveryouwanttocall it - looking toward Taihape way, but not). That turn off is Vinegar Hill. I was tempted to ride the Ninja up the lookout tower, but thought that might not be a brilliant idea.

You told me you won't be in Wellington the weekend we're heading down, so I thought Henk could have a look at minefield if it's not too far out the way (he'll just have to get up earlier or something).

Oh, if you've just figured out I have no idea about directions, don't worry, my getting lost is always part of the plan, it's boring knowing where you're going unless you really need to get there. (I had to pick something up last week, had some idea where I was going, but on the way back I did my usual and decided to follow some cars that looked like they knew where they were heading - worked out well, but the rest of the trip was a bit sucky as I just got bored and then frustrated as I was meant to be at work lol)

We'll be in the van, not on the bikes (unfortunately). I thought it wasn't that far, but as I rode it, I really had no idea. So cheers for that Chanceyy, now I can work on him and with luck, time it so we can watch Mihi in action on the big track :) (have you sstopped at the park at the bottom of the hill? That caught my attention, but thought I'd not do tooooo much sightseeing on the way lol)

Never stopped at the park at the bottom (gay or naturalist park from memory) but the look out at the top is worth a stop on a brilliant day

i loved the lookout, but did hit it on a good day. I like to stop at things that intrigue me for names or whatever, but something about the nature colony put me off, but also intrigued. Think it was the name, and the placement, but .... glad I didn't stop now hahaha

So, if I've got it right, Mihi, we will be coming to see you on whatever weekend I said (sometime in June), so long as we can get through the centre of the island :)
