Hiya I'm Willie (last time I checked I'm female) and I've recently moved from Brisbane to Palmerston North.

I've had my licence a little over a year, but haven't had much of a chance to ride at all. I'm riding to work each day on my 08 250 Ninja - more affectionatly known as Binnie.

I'm keen to get out and do some slower paced rides as I have heaps to learn - but the weather is HORRIBLE!!!

Looking forward to meeting new faces, as I don't know many people here yet.

Hi Willie, You might want to edit your profile cause you are indicating male.
Brisbane to Palmy? do you get lost often? most people move the other way :innocent:
Enjoy the wind and watch out for the wind breaks on windy days. After it rains it generally blows, which is slightly better than Wellington where it tries to do both at once.
Trust you have a good sense of humour as you will need it on KB
Welcome

Hiya, welcome welcome........

Now, are you tempting fate by naming your bike Binnie?

Raphael or Donatello would have been a better name for the bike....Raph or Don.

Hey Willie, I would love to "pick your brains" about Brisbane - my husband is an Aussie and is keen to go back home. I am dragging my feet a bit - we would head to Brisbane - shame you aren't in Auckland.... (Auckland sucks tho)

welcome to the manawatu, you've picked a brilliant place for riding, awesome roads in pretty much every direction and it doesn't take a week to get out of town to get to them

saddle road
vinegar hill / SH54
halcombe road
pohangina valley east road
pahiatua track
rangiwahia road
mangamako road

those are all fairly local (google maps is your friend)

when we're not in the frosty darkness of winter there are generally friday night rides leaving from Ashhurst around 6pm

here's the local threads, don't say I didn't warn ya

Successfully changed to 'female' it didn't even involve a trip to Thailand!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, it's going to take me a while to get used to a new forum.

My work thought it would be fun to block kiwibiker after I created my log in FML!

Cheers for the links, I'm learning quickly that Manawatu is 'anti rider'.

And Brisbane, is FABULOUS!!! I can't wait to go back!

Palmerston is hopefully just a pitstop. I'm on way to convincing my boyfriend of all the awesome reasons to move back with me.
I don't even want to talk about the pay - how the hell do yo survive?!

ok, ok. My plan is to some day settle on the sunshine coast - upto maybe 200k's north of Brizzy.
Its nice over there. But its Not nicer than NZ. its just different. Excluding the local ummm birds......yeah they really are a step-up, on average :)
