Seems the NZTA have opted-out of the opt out and will provide details anyway.
Looks like even if you dont want credit, I can get a credit report on you, with up-to-date details of your loans, your credit card balance, and have a peek at your mortgage.
Sheesh late last month on the power bill eh ? All reportable now.
If you care, make a submission. I will.

Poll added.
Id like to add the survey to my submission so please vote.
Assuming of course that people DONT support credit agencies recording their monthly credit card, mortgage, gas, phone, and internet accounts.

Credit agencies can fuck off as far as I am concerned. But then, if they think they will find anything of interest in my payment records, good luck to them...

I'm a goody two shoes credit wise thanks to a tight as Dutch dad.
Being a landlord I'd love to know more about a potential problem tenant. I reckon if you have stiffed others for money it should be in the public domain.
Then less people would do it, in fear of public exposure.

I'm sure I recall that during the introduction of photo drivers licences, the Govt. of the day (Shipley, etc) swore black and blue that they were never intended to be a national identity card.
I guess they must have lied to us. But we expected that anyway, right?

You are already able to get the information on those who have not paid their bills.
This rule change means that now, credit agencies can record payment data for those who are meeting all their obligations, and have never missed a payment.
Its a massive and very intrusive change to the rules.

Heh I look forward to the collapse of society as they implement this.
Society will soon learn that everyone has flaws and the best of society also have some of the best flaws........

I personally like the concept of it being considered ID.
Could you imagine walking around in todays society and prove your ID with another method?
Or worse could you imagine how easy it would be for me to empty your bank account without this check?

Apparently they can all but empty your bank account via the drivers license:
"But here are the major issues for you, as a drivers licence holder.
•Anyone who know the details on the drivers licence can access your NZTA account online, without your knowledge. ( Consider the 5b number to be your virtual PIN. This is generally the only protection from fraud you have, as its the only item on the licence that you can easily change, and if you report a licence stolen, this is the only detail the NZTA change when they issue your new licence.)
•They can change your address details, put vehicles into your name, and make you responsible for their parking fines, camera fines or electronic toll road fees.
•They can obtain credit in your name, online without any verification that the drivers licence is being presented by the holder. In fact, as they never sight the licence, a fraudster only needs the licence details – they dont even need to possess the licence card at all.
•Most of the mobile phone companies will accept a drivers licence number on-line as proof of identification, in exactly the same manner"
