SOLD
I've done the maths and the only way I get to go racing again, and get my kids out there too, is to sell my pride and joy. This trademe ad (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=378744206) says it all really. It has some minor scuffs and scrapes but has been excellently maintained and gently personalised. I'm not gonna cut my own throat to sell this, but am always open to negotiation. Will happily swap for 3 buckets and a pro-twin.

That's funny, I did get a vasectomy:shutup: around that time...

Yes. I officially have the disease. My garage is filling with bits and pieces that may one day congeal in the right way and give birth to a bucket or 3.

Cheers Jimmy. I'm at peace with the reality that I have to set some other priorities for the time being. I wanted more space on the ad to give more info, but....

Cheers mate,
the way it's going you might get your wish:laugh:. Not a good time to be selling a bike without severe discounting. I've thought long and hard about what it's worth to me, and I can live with it if it doesn't sell. Such a pleasure to ride. I've updated the photo's on the ad 'cos some of them were a bit hokey.

Price reduced again folks. It's sitting in my shed not getting any use and taking up space that is needed for bucket related "treasure".

I just picked up an 07 with 12000 km's for under 9k. I think I am going to miss the Gen 1
BUT....if someone were to pick up this bike they could then buy this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=407431915 as well and put the :
Oz Wheels
Ohlins rear shock
CF rear hugger
CF front guard
RH side CF bling
CF belly Pan
etc etc on this bike and you would have spare Factory motor dash etc etc

Yeah. They aren't worth a lot at the moment and there are some sharp deals out there. I know that extras shouldn't be considered in resale value either so I'm asking for top dollar for mine. However, this is what I'm prepared to part with it for at the moment simply because I'm not riding on the road. I know what it would cost to up-spec a standard one to this level and I will get back on the road again at some time. It wouldn't be a bad thing to have this sitting in my shed still in 12 months or so.
I saw that auction for the factory as well. I would definitely be bidding if I was still keen on developiong mine. Getting the whanau bucket team together has taken priority.

Yeah thats my trashed bike unfortunately and believe me if I could get another factory gen 1 rather than the gen II i would have. It was a perfect bike. But now that i have had all the goodies I wouldnt be happy with the base model.
They are fantastic bikes and 8k is a steal but yes thats the market now. Bucket racing now thats a thought.

Crashing the Factory must have broken your heart. So what will you do with your Gen-II? I would have gone the factory route as well but couldn't afford it when I got mine. To be frank I was underwhelmed with the power in the standard engine, hence the power commander etc... I would have liked to have tried one of the Gabro chips too. Maybe if it doesn't sell. I was also on the verge of suspension upgrades but was getting by with the settings I had on the R stuff.

Yes it did but didn't admit that to the wife. I had it running sweet. When bought it it needed tweaking. Wasn't even derestricted. Derestricted it. Added K n N filter and Akrapovic racing pipe. Then cut the pin 16 wire and ran on the TI chip. Then added the Gabro V2, V5 chip with a switch on the handlebars. Had the shop tune it but it still ran rough at lower revs. Adjusted the trim pots back to 12 and woah!! It was running sweet as a bike could run. The shop had adjusted the CO to 4.5 % when it should have been closer to 3%. Fark me the bike was heaven to me but I only ended up doing a total of 1000kms from when I bought it before I crashed it.
I had sold a 1050 speed triple to get it. I had done 10000kms on the triple but it just started to be boring. The racing was the perfect bike and now the ST4s was sitting in the shadows.
By now in this novel you will understand how much that racing meant to me.
Well today I rode the Gen II for the first time since purchase
Its a great bike but has std pipes and being a base model needs a lot of work. Its been in an accident as one steering stop has been broken but I know all the bits that have been replaced after looking long and hard at it.
Compared to the Gen I
Pluses:
The clocks are easier to read as the gen I clocks were designed for race crouch only.
ECU takes care of fast idle.
The base model brakes are the same as the racing I had. (earlier Gen II)
Umm thats it:
Minuses:
The service alarm came on today and I had to learn how to get rid of it. Not sure why it came on.
The clocks fog up
The riding position was better on the Gen I.
The stock pipes sound like shit
the GEn I racing went better than this bike as it stands now.
What am I going to do to the Gen II??
BUGGER ALL apart from the set of Akrapovc pipes coming from the states and some tune time by TSS the Mount to get it sussed and maybe a ohlins rear shock.
I AM NOT GOING TO GET ATTACHED TO A BIKE LIKE THE RACING EVER AGAIN.
I bought the 07 for nicks and will get ridden and tracked and I dont give a toss about resale.
