Does anyone have any handy website (or forum?) links to caring for leathers?
My jackets starting to look old and well worn - its about 12 years old now, but hasnt been in a crash, yet its losing it colouring etc.
Mind you - how long should a good leather jacket actually last?

your local bike shop shouls be able to provide you with some stuff for it. I got some a while back, comes in a pot, you rub it on the jacket and let it dry, supposed to do so every 6 months or so, and it helps with keeping water out, costs aout $25.

Dubbin?..good for water-proofing as well.

Ahh cheers. Ive been using Marinol and Zanolin wipe on - wipe off conditioner stuffs on them for years - the leathers super soft and supple, but its not black, really black, any more. And wee cuts and cracks starting to appear if you look closely.
Arghhhh. perhaps I do need to consider a new jacket - just not yet.

get some boot polish into it mate, then treat it a bit later with your synthetic water proof treatments.
There is a dye compound I use sometimes that gets the black back into it but not sure where you buy it where you are, a saddlery possibly

GT13.5 Protection Cream

I've just ordered 500ml and it's what Sam at Celtic Leather uses for his products.

I think BabyB was who Maha was referring to, in regards to leather restoration.

Get yourself some good ol' Kiwi made BONE DRY - leather becomes beautifully soft and water beads up and runs off like you've always wanted. Wont make it Black again though

Well those boys pretty much have it covered....dubbin is a good product though be careful if you do your pants, it can be slippery!

12 years and counting, i bet that jacket has many stories to tell. That's awesome you two are still so close.

I got a pot of this stuff recently. Used it on a few things, mainly got it for the gloves, have done a dress jacket and a couple of pairs of boots with it.

So far so good.

Contact BabyB.. or PM me for her phone number...

What's more amazing than it being 12 years old is how did you manage to lay off the pies in that time so it still fit?

Looks like a whole bunch of Honda and Harley riders have gone off on a discussion on leather care for their chaps, you know pants without butts

Yup mine is almost 25yrs old now, never been recondition, but I always use a mixture of beeswax and almond/olive oil .... and the leather is def' over 1.4mm thick!!!

Meh, I dunno.
Leathers are like women in some ways?
Different types, shapes, and colours.
Some are like diamonds, others gold, some are like thrush - (irritating)
