I bought a new clutch on trade me it was 503 grams lighter than the old clutch and smaller in diameter and the bell was included.
Performance wise its better until I hit a real steep hill and forward motion ceases

So Ive got the old clutch and weighed the clutch shoes and they were 159 grams each.
I ground 5 groves in each shoe to dissapate heat and lighten them.
The weight was removed from the pivot end of the shoes.
So they are down to 156 grams each.
And I lost one of the cirlips

if you have reduced the circumference of the clutch, won't you want to uprate your spring strength to acount for lost friction?

no that clutch came with a smaller bell or drum and is on the scooter atm

The other clutch that I took off the scooter is the one I am lightening and it has its own larger bell.

The larger clutch was 503 grams heavier than the new clutch
So far Ive taken 3 grams off each shoe so thats a total of 9 grams as there are 3 shoes.

I might buy another one of the smaller clutches and lighten that.
