So who was the ding-bat from Invers that binned near Owaka last night?
Shoulda binned near Moeraki, woulda saved him all the effort and stress of trying to outrun the cops for the next 150 k's.
And his rear brakes might not have let him down.

His cornering got wilder and loser just before his bin, reckoned it was because his rear-brake faded too much??
(There's a thought he was over-cooking the corners and using his rear brake so as not to 'stand-up' the bike by braking mid-corner using the front brakes. But that's just conjecture and guesswork)
good pic of him on the ODT front page

He picked a poor place to crash, when you get that far south, you never know what the locals will do with you, and a good road side beating would be the nicest thing they could do!

Huh? On a sportbike if you have your brakes on before the corner and are tipping into the corner, the bike shouldn't be standing up. Actually this is the way a racer would typically brake into a corner.... it is the "correct" way to take a corner if the objective is to go fast.
Please understand, I'm not saying one should do this during regular street riding. As far as the rear end getting lose, this often happens when braking hard for a corner and possibly not downshifting smoothly.
Some bikes might want to stand up mid corner if the brakes are applied after the corner has already started.... but if a guy is riding quickly, then I don't see why this would even be an issue.

Why did I think of the Keystone Kops when I read that? They must have all been doing circuits around the one way while the bloke hid his bike behind the pump. Good job he fell off otherwise he would have got it serviced in Invers, turned round and made the midday sailing in Picton.

Well done NZ Police.
They had his plate number, so they didn't do u-turns in front of other traffic to chase him, didn't endanger other drivers/riders with a high speed chase, they just sat back until he binned it and took himself out.
Good piece of judgement on behalf of the constabulary.
Not such a good piece of judgement on behalf of the mobike rider.

Agreed. Do not condone his actions at all, but...
How the hell did it take him 170kms to lose his legal enforcing tail? Provided he did not have a chopper tracking him, a rider competent at speed should really be able to get it over and done with in a fraction of that time. Of course, this guy by no means sounds competent. Bad decisions:
1) Choosing to run
2) and NOT having the riding ability to back it all up.
Go back to Grand Theft Auto noob.

True, that. I lost them on a GB400 on the open road more than once, and that thing would only do the ton if the wind was blowing in the right direction.
Probably wouldn't have got away with that down here though, there be no farken hills or corners in this part of the world and I'm 25kg heavier than I was back then. They'd probably just overtake and then finish me off with a U turn a bit further up the road.
