View Full Version : MotoGP coverage?

Yeah, I know it's late in the season, but I've been busy and stuff. Usually a fellow KBer records the Moto GP for me from Sky, and gives it to me on DVD, but I've been slack this season and neglected to organise it.
Soo.... what I'd like to know, is if anyone on KB has a MotoGP subscription, and if so, how well does it work? I've been given executive permission to get a subscription for the season, but before I cough up 100 Euro, I want to know that it actually works OK.
So, does it?
You can't record it, right? I don't really want to watch it on my notebook, so can I download it through the PS3, like we sometimes do for TV on demand? If so, how well does that work?
Any other opinions or info you can help me with?
BTW - so far I've remained blissfully ignorant of all race results to date, so it doesn't matter that I'm behind...

Just download it for free from racing-underground.com and play it through your TV or something if you want.

The MotoGP passes are great. Lots of content outside of the races themselves. Some of it a bit lame, but some is cool, like After the Flag, it is a bit of a laff and gets you up close with riders.
Depending on your broadband you can watch in low, med, hi or HD resolution. I'd like to see what rich fucker has enough $ to pay for HD level feed in this rip off country!
I can generally watch all three races in low res if I switch off at the end of the race and switch back on just before the start of the next for less than our 800MB daily limit with Actrix.
Races from Europe are good with feed speed as it is during the night, so contention ratios are low.
Commentry with Nick the dick and Gavin is fun too. Bit more light hearted than some of the others.
There is software available that allows you to record the feed. I had it on my old computer that was stolen, but can't be arsed looking for it again.
You could possibly pass the feed through an HDD recorder to your TV???

Lorenzo's bitched
Stoners whined
Simo's binned
Pedrosa's pinned (again)
That oughta cover it.

Err, I don't think he actually WANTED someone to give away what has already happened!
I'll vouch for motogp.com, they have upped thier game in recent years and I rarely have problems with it anymore. Also you get to watch all the practice sessions and the qaulity is fine so it pisses over Sky.
When you sign up you will want to use this link to view the races: http://www.motogp.com/en/videos-nospoiler
Racing underground is awesome too but you need someone to give you an invite.
Last time I tried, I couldn't watch it through the PS3, unlike youtube etc.
I have a program to record the live stream but I can't watch it at the same time or it downloads everything twice simultaneously.

Do it. It's great.I've been very reluctant; last time they took the money, and provided an unusable service.

I subscribe to HD service. It is excellent. You also get to watch past seasons and all the practice and qualifying sessions. A high monthly download limit (80GB good) with your ISP comes in handy, especially if you go for full HD. You probably need at least ADSL2+ to watch at 720P.

Alrighty, filled with the confidence you've all given me, I'll give their service another crack; it is something I think is worth paying for, even though I can get it for free.

I subscribed last season and it was great (HD was a bit jerky even though we have a fat internet pipe at work :) )
I'm being made redundant soon (ten days possibly !) so didn't subscribe this year - it sucked from home over telescum broadband.

Slow and jerky. sound sometimes out of sync.
I may be the area I'm in (Newlands Wellington) dunno.
It probably would be OK if I still had the Saturn Cable Modem but when Telstra Clear took over Saturn we had a bit of a falling out :(

Hha, monitoring internet usage was MY job (well part of my job) my wee bit of motoGP viewing was well hidden in the hundreds of gigs of daily web traffic to and from Metservice.
The outsource company that is taking over offer free internet to all staff so I might end up working for them if I can't find anything better :)
