View Full Version : Hyo top seller
Did a bit of tyre kicking yesterday, well buying actually, but whilst we were waiting (we had had our complementary coffee and attended to another pre-tyre purchase) we swanned about next door in the Hyosung shop, just for a giggle really.
Some chap was looking to buy (I think?) and desk man remarked that ''in the 250 market, Hyosung outsell all other 250's by 5/1.:shit:
Could this be accurate?

I suspect if they are looking at new bike sales he could be right... there isn't a whole lot of choice out there on the new bike front right now. And hyo sit pretty well in the line up.

Might be true in aus as learners can ride a restricted 650. Highly doubt its 5:1 over here as i see plently of new ninjas about.

Well you were in a Hyosung shop, you'd expect them to sell more of those!

Not entirely accurate. First quarter Hyosung outsold Kawasaki by over 2 - 1 (45 versus 22) and Suzuki (20) from memory. That being said, Suzuki and Kawasaki only market one model each in the 250cc bracket. Hyosung offer three.

Seat of the pants feeling herre.....and yeah that sayings been known to hurt.....Im seeing as many 'new' EX250's as Hyo GTR's on the roads. Do these numbers get published at end of FY or something, like they do for cars?
Edit. Ahhh I was a minute late. Blaming them south island ISP's....slooooow.

They do, I would have to agree. I did say that they seem to have come a long way in the asthetic department.

Ahhh A Hyobag bashing thread...
I like bashing Hyobags, I beat the living shit out of mine, and the fucker won't die...
Even crashed the fucken thing and it still doesn't want to stop.
Fucking reliable piece of shit.
(Ok, so mine might be an exception)

I wouldn't be surprised if they were the top selling 250cc bike, but I couldn't see it being 5 to 1.
Anyone seen the new Honda CBR250? I think it's a grand less than the Hyosung 250 and looks pretty nifty too :)

I would also think 5/1 is an exaggeration.
However, I'd wandered into the same shop I think (Hyo HQ on Barrys Point Rd) when I was looking for a bike and the sales guy pointed out that GT250Rs are the winners in the 250 production class in NZ for like 3rd year in a row . There were trophies on hand as well. Anyone cares to comment on this?

Yeah I would say 5:1 is a bit OTT myself but I must admit I am seeing more and more of the sport 250 on the road.
I got a GV250 myself, brilliant bike, fat bastard friendly, costs feck all to run and has never let me down.
So there.....

I work with a guy who has had his hyo 650 for three months max, in that time: the air box fucked itself, it developed an issue that meant it kept dying on him (just what you want when you need to ride 200km on a wet rainy night!) and the front brakes failed... not to mention the shit-arse paint job.
That's only the stuff I know about, coz we only work together every few weeks, can't wait to hear the next story

To be fair, Hyosung have come to the party and fixed each issue quickly, but the poor guy is now left wondering what is going to go next

No it's not, but it is his first brand new bike. Generally when you buy new, it shouldn't NEED fixing, or to worry about something so frigging dangerous as brake failure!
Which brings me to my point, I know some people love them but personally I'd rather go three rounds with Fat Max in a jelly pit than swing a leg over a hyosung :shit:

To be quite honest, I would rather buy a SV650 than a Hyosung when I get my full. Something about all the technical issues puts me off. That and the current SV650s look awesome. Would get me one once I get my full, but the rego costs are putting me off. That, and I may end up joining the Air Force at the start of next year.
Ah well, the Hyosungs do their job well as a entry learner bike.

Suzuki > Hyo. Correct. Lots of happy SV owners out there. Fun and reliable.
Air Force > Life. Hmmmmm. Lots of unhappy fly-boys around at the moment.

Plenty of ex-SV owners who dislike em too, my pick out of the 650's would be an ER.
The new hornet 600 is a pretty good looking, high quality machine and comes in under the rego bracket

If like the Kwaka twins since I first saw a GPZ500 in F3's. Nice bikes on the road too.
And yep, hear the new 650's are still great.
The hornet is a IL4 yes?
Probably an ok bike....just something about the mid size twins that I enjoy. Maybe just fond memories...

Mid sized IL4's can be loads of fun, especially if they're fitted with a Scorpion exhaust, like my R6
