I) wear +7 in both eyes ( too much pron ,,,me thinks ) Anyway for years I have been getting my lenses from Coastal contacts in America .....

then it went pear shaped , coastal opened a new branch in Japan , who do not stock my size ... Coastal America will not ship ,,because they say you should go to the site in Japan catch 22

The opticians over here cant get +7 ( +6.5 at a stretch ) and the opticians in NZ will not cough up without a prescription and this is proving to be a major pain in the arse to get as I take +5 for driving ,,,which is what they want to write on the prescription ...ok for driving but not ok for reading ( dont ask ..that pron is dangerous )

SOOOO Seeing its easier to buy a Kilo of Cocaine than it is +7 lenses , If anyone wants to do a trade , Ill send a K of Coke in exchange for a pair of +7 lenses

Any takers???

+7?? Holy Monkey.

Have you considered using one of those "mail to" companies in the States?

You buy them, they get delivered to the States address, and they forward them to you. There's a fee involved, but it doesn't sound like that's you major.

Have you considered LASIK - I've never regretted it?

We use www.lensesonline.co.nz . I've got a weird torric lens and they seem to have no probs getting them. We havent supplied presciptions to them just select the lens we want and hey presto our moneys gone and I can see again

I just looked at lensesonline.co.nz and they list +7 lenses in Oasis type. I can recommend these guys. Good price and the gear turns up before you log off the computer. If they won't deal with you overseas, I could forward them on for you. You have an honest avatar,,hehehe.

How about http://www.contacts2go.co.nz/ ? Here them advertised on the radio every now and then.

My eyes are so shot I require glasses while riding, they don't make contacts that are strong enough to fix my vision.

Google.

I've used contacts2go.co.nz (slightly cheaper in multipacks) and lensesonline.co.nz (cheaper for low-volume orders, 2 boxes does me 3 months). When I went looking a mate was getting 6-12 months worth ex-Canada, cheapest he could find. One of the above is the same company operating locally, IIRC.

Most NZ sites have a tick-box to declare you've seen an optician in the last 2 years, or something.

My friend's eyes were too far gone for Laser surgery, so they inserted a lens inside the eyeball. It's a newish technique and she seems happy with it

Whistle out if I can be an agent of yours in NZ, to aquire your lenses, and forward on to you, I wont charge much beyond the occasional care package of yummy, edible delights from Japan :sunny:

It is the weird shit that is so disturbing

One of my exchange kids offered me up something she was positively drooling over. Mark had already turned her down. I thought he was bing a girl  and not wanting to offend Yoko I said "yes please".

Worst thing I have ever put in my mouth, bar nothing :puke:

Dried octopus  If I think about it I can still taste it :puke:

I dont want to put the words up describing what it might have tasted like, but vile is the closest word I can think of. That was a definite spit! YUK!

Will bear your very kind offer in mind though.

in future give these guys a try: http://www.aclens.com. The nz sites are wayyy to overpriced. I can get a 12 month supply off this site for about the same as 3 months from the NZ ones (depending on the exchange rate of course). Only downside is shipping takes around 7 business days, which i guess isn't too bad..

How long can you wear your contacts before they start to feel uncomfortable? +7 must be a pretty bloody thick lens.

can u get laser'd?

I looked into it a few years ago, they said they could only correct upto +4 - my correction is +6.5 :violin:

But technology has certainly improved leaps and bounds in that arena so they may by now. Don't think I am too keen on their new procedure - to have the contacts implanted

Maaaate! Yer not kidding:woohoo:

I've used the same online crowd for years when I realised my usual optician was ripping me blind, excuse the pun. But these guys are considerably cheaper again.

Thanks for the pointer, ordered some today.

Just had a look at my lense details:

Biofinity AQUAFORM BC8.6 DIA14.0 PWR-3.25 by CooperVision.

I don't take them out and wear them all the time for a month (+ or -) then replace them!

Find them really good on my bike! (that is when I used to ride it)

Think I could probably get them cheaper off the nett but get pretty good service from my Optometrist.

Yeah my optometrist used to be great, then the business got sold to a chain & there were a succession of people to the point I realised I hadn't seen tha same person twice & they seemed to be getting greener. Time to go find a practice where a partner owns it sez I. oh & they were charging enough for contacts that th difference would pay for the bike rego (well not quite but. . .)
