Yamaha R6 2007
Ex-Midge Smart bike, originally built by Dave Cole
Purchased by me late 2009
Features
Freshly rebuilt engine after it dropped a valve last December – new pistons, valves, retainers and more
YEC ECU and wiring loom
YEC head gasket
Power Commander 3
Full system exhaust
Ohlins FGK fork cartridges with NIX 25 upgrade, freshly serviced March this year by CKT, ridden once since
Ohlins TTX36 rear shock, serviced March
Ohlins steering damper, serviced March
Tether switch fitted for street racing
520 chain with full range of sprockets
Full road gear, unused
2 sets of race fairings – some slightly damaged, but enough to dress race it immediately.
Brand new gel battery
Woodcraft crash bungs
R&G case protector on RHS
Spare rims with discs and good wets
Awesome bike, built to the old sports production spec so will have to be raced in Supersport unless you want to fit the original headers, fork internals, shock and ECU (supplied)
Fast bike. Got me down to 8’s at Hampton, 61’s at Puke, before the fork upgrade, and has plenty more in it.
Fork/shock/damper servicing and upgrade cost about $1kfrom CKT (have receipt)
Engine rebuild about $3k (can give you mechanic’s contact – respected guy with good creds)
I had planned to do the previous Nationals on this bike but the engine failure in December meant that I missed the South Island rounds. I got it fixed to finish the AMCC club rounds and North Island Nationals, but crashed at AMCC and decided to finish it up there.
The crash damaged the front fairing (easy fix), melted the LHS case protector (case not touched) and crash bung (replaced), and bent the LHS handlebar (replaced). I also just realised that it cracked the little plastic bracket holding the front master cylinder, which can be plastic welded or replaced.
All road gear here so stick it on the road if you want, but it hasn’t been registered before so not sure if there is a bit of extra paperwork for that.
Loads of spares including brand new subframe, engine cases, handlebars, levers, chain. Spare fairings, brake pads (used but good), and more.
Only thing it needs to be raced right now is a left hand footpeg, which I will get before sale.
Photos aren’t great, can take more if requested.
Asking $10,500 for everything
Also available:
’95 Toyota Hiace to haul it -$5000
Athon GPSR lap timer to keep it all honest - $650
