I might be in need of a Yz125 cylinder to suit a 2003.
Has anyone got one for sale or know where to get a new one at a good price.
Was quoted $760 from local bike shop but i could get one from ebay for $460 NZ shipped.

144cc Athena kit is meant to be pretty competitive compared to a factory new 125cc replacement.

Haven't looked into the #'s myself though.

just buy the one of ebay - any second hand cylinder will eventually want a resleeve (imo) which will prob run you $400 - buy new and get a maching piston and you'll be laughing

Why is it i can get a OEM brand new cylinder for $440 NZD shipped from a dealer in the US but local bike shops can only do 700 odd. Ill prob grab the one off ebay, is it ok to put the power valves out of my old cylinder into the new one?

Because the US market has purchasing power that NZ will never have

What is the matter with your original cylinder? could you not have it replated?

The exhaust bridge is cracked

That can be repaired before it is replated but it's probably cheaper to buy the one from the US

email them and ask, they're normally fairly good at responding

I priced up having a scored cylinder welded and replated in NZ and it was around 700 or so, not including shipping. It can be done cheaper in aus or the us, but shipping is the killer.

700 odd ain't that bad for a new cylinder... would say that US place is clearing old stock at near cost, great deal

Do you mean you can get a new cylinder for that or replate / repair one?

Where from?

If it's out of Oz I wouldn't touch them unless they have upped their game considerably in the last few years
