Hey guys,

I have been riding since November and my Thor Q1 bootsare knackered all ready.
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to buy for under $300.
Or a secondhand pair of decent boots. Im size 13

Aplinestar Tech 3s, anyone use? could maybe afford those.

buy the tech 3's - i bought some fly mavericks and they were really comfortable boots but they kept braking straps on me - like 1 a ride for the first 3 rides i had em before i sent them back. got the tech 3's and they are awesome, no problems with them whatsoever and i reckon they are a much stronger boot, my ankle and feet feel like there is way less movement, but they are really comfy to walk round in.

Similar to morg_nz I had No Fear Trophee's as my first boot. I could actually see them wearing on each ride I went on. Soles didn't last long, became quite flimsy and didn't protect my foot when I clipped a root and broke a bone.

Upgraded to Tech 7's and they're a far superior boot, much stiffer materials, far more comfortable, and a big thing for me being a fellow size 13 wearer, they're much lighter. The 7 might be overkill and would be out of your specified price range.

Ive had tech 3 and currenty have tech 7. Both boots have served me well. One little tip is after washing give the buckels a little squirt with the trusty CRC. You will never have issues doing the buckles up or releasing. Keep an eye on Torpedo7, every so often they have a massiv reduction on boots. I brought my tech 7's for $399 from there. They currently have Tech 3's for $349.

I use Tech3s and they are awesome, not just for the price. Was going to get some more expensive boots, but these were shop soiled and at the price they were going for I couldn't say no.

I'd like to try some of the higher spec Alpinestars, but it looks like it will be quite a while before the Tech3s wear out.

Thought u wanted a good/average pair of boots for under$300.
Tech 3's average $400 new if you can find a sz47/13.
Oxtar/Tcx pro2's are on sale for $400 also old stock.
Yes you want the best boot for your dollars go to the shops & try a few on to narrow ur choice.

they are well worth it ay - just make sure you find a place that you can dry em out - they have quite a bit of padding and hold water for ages. i have to wash mine thoroughly next time its a fine day cause they sat wet in my shed for 2 weeks and they stink.

didnt have the problem with my old fly boots - they had no padding lol!
