Hey guys, not sure if this has been covered before, but I was wondering what the best bike is for someone who is new to racing. I have a 636 atm that I ride on the road, and I was thinking of getting an nc30 or maybe even go back down to 250's to start racing. What are your opinions on the matter? Should I down grade to race? and if so how far down should I go?

Try searching for a thread mate. This topic has been well covered, and recently too. Good luck with your racing.

If you're riding a 636 on the road then you should probably look at Pro-Twins and go for an SV650. Anything else is going to feel jolly slow.

plus one on what james D just said, look into a pro twins bike. I understand they are a really good beginners class, and the bikes are fairly similarly matched, so you should get a good gauge as to how your skills are progressing.
Have fun!

Bruce "Mad man" Telford used to race a real angry one of them for the Plimmerton Motorcycle Club IIRC. It was a fucking animal of a bike. After he moved on to other things, no other club members were game to step up and I believe it was sold.
If I had the money I reckon it'd be quite a cool project race bike, if for nothing more than the sound they make.
