The Technically-Not-A-Bandit spotted at Ngawi today.

The list of mods is now almost done. The next step is suspension, but there's no rush on that.

Only one pic..? :( You've got the best model in the best colour, you must show it off!

Nice screen, though.

It's the mirrors isn't it?

There are two mods on show there. Eagle eyes seem to have them more or less sorted.

Edbear

The GPS? Also the top-box...

Edbear

Although the mirrors and screen are prolly the latest...

The top box came with the bike, so I don't count that and the panniers as mods. The GPS has weathered three bikes now and has 1,001 uses around the home.

The screen is new. Fitting it was a character-building experience. It's a Powerbronze Airflow, from Powerbronze Australia.

The mirrors are now functionally enhanced after fitting the packing blocks. I can now see what's directly behind. Magic! Those packers are available online from Just Bandits. I recommend them for any Bandit or GSX that's not being ridden by a woman shorter than 163cm dripping wet.

Yes, while it's Technically-Not-A-Bandit, it is technically a Suzuki. Take one for a ride.

Why is it "technically-not-a-bandit"?

and tell me more about these dripping wet women.

Hitcher

Why is it "technically-not-a-bandit"?

Because it isn't. It's a GSX1250FA. The word "Bandit" isn't written on it anywhere. Just like the GSX650F isn't technically a Bandit either.

HenryDorsetCase
12th June 2011, 17:44
OK.

and the women?

Hitcher

and the women?

I'm married to one. They're that good. Seriously.

So the next mod requires a vivid and a steady hand then? :dodge:

At least in your case a dictionary won't be required to get the spelling right!

Women are more like Ducati's. Maintain them as you should, they're fine, and a fine ride. Don't...and you can forget about riding them and they'll cost you dearly.

Where I grew up ... non-standard ... meant engine modifications ...

"different" mirrors, screens etc. ... were called accessories ... to call them by any other name was being big-headed ...

Yes. They need to be serviced at least weekly. Oddly though, the more kms on them the less servicing they seem to need.

Why is it always calm and sunny in Ngawi? No seriously. It's like a Bermuda triangle effect where crap Wellington weather can't penetrate.

Those indicator pods need to go Hitcher. You can sell them on trademe as spa baths are something similar.

Give them "proper" servicing ... and you may find they perform better ...

If you can't ... they may find one who can ...

In need of a rebore perhaps?

That would depend on tolerances of pistons currently in use ... A hone or at least a close shave ... may be all thats required to keep the rev's up ...

Interesting...

I dont quite make 157cm and am really impressed with the mirrors on Millie, I can almost give myself a start, mistaking my ventura pack for a very dark vehicle right up my date. I have not compared me dripping wet to dry in the rear view aspect *snigger*

It was actually a piss-take, but somehow lucked into the mirror extenders... but only when I looked again a minute ago.

I suggest starting with something better than a Suzuki... like a BMW. My mirrors don't bother me at all, and I'm a big boy.

Of course... it could be because my bars are almost a metre wide, but they give better leverage :2thumbsup

I dont understand the point of a GPS on a bike, afterall a motorcycle is all about getting away from all that crap.

One would hope, Mr Hitcher, that one doesn't consult the one known to be VERY economical with the truth when one gets one's suspension modified.....

Horses for courses. It's that thought process that the bike started its very existence designed to withstand the elements and able to cope with certain demands. Yeup, they are expensive, but cheaper in the long run, than going through an expensive process of modifying, and it's still not exactly what you're after.

Simple things, like a 720W alternator, for lots of accessories, without risking overloading the bike, killing your battery etc. Top notch ABS, that you couldn't easily retrofit and electronic suspension, to adjust somewhat on the fly, or stopped, to suit a wide range of surfaces and requirements.

I guess I talk about the GSA, as that's what I have, comes it at almost $40k brand new (got a demo with 4k on the clock - what's 4k to me?) and you should be over 6 foot to handle the damn thing, but just riding along, you know it can take anything you can throw at it and still eat up the km.

As I said tho, horses for courses, if you're enjoying it, then that's what really counts. Of course, I don't have to spend time modifying suspension, mirrors, screen etc, I spent all the coin on lights and electrical goodies

I dont understand the point of a GPS on a bike, afterall a motorcycle is all about getting away from all that crap.
My mates reckon they're better off when the GPS isn't around me. I can get them more lost and find more interesting roads with it, but once you're doing playing, it can get you out to the nearest gas etc.

Thats for bloody sure... if you want to go down twisty gravel downhills in the rain, and end up having to stop and turn around because you are lost... follow gremlin and that damn gps!
